Some pics from cleaning the other day - couldn't get a lot as i only had my phone camera and it started to pour down just as i had finished.

I just used some snow foam on it (valet pro), then washed with chemical guys hyperwash. It's a shame i didn't get any pre-wash photos but i hadn't cleaned it since christmas and it had been through heavy snow and all sorts! Fortunately the g-techniq C1 sealant is still going strong, as is the glass sealant after 9000 miles/6 months. The wheels are ridiculously easy to clean with the wheel gaurd on, even after all these miles and the body work is also very easy to clean.

That is looking really good, love Black cars wouldn't have any other colour to honest nothing compares to a really clean black car.

Can you tell me what wheel guard product you use? I really could do with some...clayed my wheels the other day now I want to put something on them that will make the easy to clean!

Regards

G-techniq C5. It's not cheap (£25 for 15ml, but you only need a small dab per rim), but it's still going strong after all that time. When i went around europe i could get most of the dirt from brake dust off just with a pressure washer.

There's more info about ordering the product on detailing world - they're only a small outfit and haven't yet sorted a website out:

Somebody at work has just got a new company car (325d with the electric metal roof) and bought a "shamWOW" from America or somewhere.....anyway, what do you guys think about him using it on his car for drying it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwRISkyV_B8

I must admit, after watching him put the shamWOW into a pint of water and no water being in the glass or water dripping from the cloth, I was impressed......but still have reservations about it being used on a car...thoughts?

i would buy anything that dude sells. he is awesome :D

I've got a Sappire Black Z4, want to give it a real good clean and get rid the "the swirls" what the best way/products?

Hi guys, this is likely a stupid question (but hey, I'm new to this) but I don't have access to a hose or anything because I live in a flat, so I'm going to be cleaning my car out in the car park. Presumably a bucket of warm water thrown over the car will be OK? Thinking it's probably the best I can do really!

I use a watering can and it works quite well. Invest in a decent drying towel and it should be fine.

Gave the car a good clean and polish yesterday (first time in a long time) this was the result after a track session.

Looks like a rewarding colour Jake, looks nice!

What's with the wonky bumper, skirt and kurbed wheel? Had a blonde moment?

Thanks, I love it. Gets looks all the time and really stands out, however the car really does need the once over in the body shop....stone chips galore :(

What's with the wonky bumper

After effects of the original accident when it was stolen.

Always been like it since I bought it, haven't got round to taking it off to see if I can make it fit better.

and kurbed wheel?

I'm magnetically drawn towards kerbs...all my wheels are really scabby (most are peeling and bubbling) as well as being kerbed to hell.

Had a blonde moment?

Nope, just all part of owning something British I guess :D

Using Megs #21 on my car, I went over it with a fairly thinish layer yesterday.

It got wet today and beaded but not quite so much as I was expecting on the roof, seemed to "pool" a little more than expected rather than having individual beads. Could just be due to the volume of water as it seemed to be fine on the sides.

Found that AG Vinyl and Rubber care is excellent for engine bay dressing though, really makes black parts black again.

What would be good for use on external trim, the spoiler on my car has dulled slightly, tried using the above on it, but it faded off when it rained quickly.

Finally got my Plastx working correctly, MrLOL said i should try a drill head buffer attachment, was walking around halfords and picked up a 12v buffer, was only £7 due to it being in the "to clear" bin, got some pads for it and after some hard work its given a new like shine to my headlight lenses, simply couldn't get this by hand so just goes to show even a poor 12v buffer can have its uses.

Very please with the results for around £10.

Halfords have their usual 3 for 2 on autoglym too, get the glass polish some more SRP and then treat yourself!

What is paint cleaner? Is it a harsher polish?

Paint renovator you mean by autoglym?

It restores surface defects and fade/scratches on paintwork - it's like Tcut tbh.

Over the whole body? no way, you'll ruin panels that are in good condition. Use it sparingly on areas affected by fade or scratches, clean off then apply the SRP and overcoat, either EGP (extra gloss protection) or your favourite sealant wax.

paint renovator is harsh and crap, SRP will do the job unless your car is faded beyond belief, although even if that was the case there are better products out there to rectify that than PR

What would be the best product to use on the door pillars that have a matt black vinyl type covering on the outside? these seem to show water marks etc. Really want something to remove these marks/stains and make them clean, but keep the same sheen they have now if that makes sense.

Thanks
