Is there any secrets to waxing/polishing a white car ?

As I seem to use half a tub of wax due to not being able to see the wax when applying it..:(

Don't look directly over it. Look at the panel from an angle so you can see where you are applying it. Worked for me on a white car anyway :)

You wont get 6 months. Great product, makes the paint very slick, almost like it's just been clayed but I don't recall getting 6 months from it.

E;

Can't beat having a good wax session though:

I always find it takes too long to wash the car and then use a proper paste wax, like Autoglym HD wax. It ends up taking me at least 4 hours.

It can take a while, I spent 3hrs washing the car with a bit of a decontamination using AS Tardis and AS Red7 and then waxed, I did however also skip the wheels as they'd only been done a couple of days prior (it still felt wrong I just didn't have the time!). The paint needs claying however as it feels very rough but I'll do that when it's a bit warmer :). This wax is very easy on and off, it's CSP.

Thanks to advice in this thread a couple of pages back I didn't bother going out spending a load of money on a Polisher and all the other kit.

Instead I dropped my car off at a friend who has all the kit and is an enthusiast looking to get into this kind of stuff.
Will update with photos if the weather is good tomorrow but it had really bad swirls and a scratch running the whole length of the car which has now disappeared :)

Only downside is...he's spotted that one of my rear doors has a patch of pretty shoddy respray and filler! :mad:

I'll attempt to take this up with BMW but as its over 3 years old now and I bought it 3 weeks ago I don't think they will do anything about it.

Just booked the R8 in for a 3 x day full top to bottom wheels off detail. Goes in early April and hopefully we can banish the swirl marks of death. Final thing to fix is the carbon blade, but all in good time. Will let the detailer do his best but looks like what is left is a damaged weave hence the push back on fixing it easily.

Been researching ahead of the new white car being delivered.
Thinking
* Poorboys White Diamond and wax
* Car Pro Trix decontamination
* dust busters wheel high temp wheel sealant
* probably a autobrite foamer for the archer

Just had my car fully detailed for the first time, the guy has been here since 8am! Two stage machine polished, just my luck it has started to rain. I forgot to take before and after pictures, but it looks awesome, the shine is fantastic really pleased for the price. Sorry for phone pics, I'll grab some more of the guy when he uploads.

Used Meguiars Ultimate Liquid wax today. So easy to apply and buff off. Results look great - can't wait to see it in the sun tomorrow. :)

Had this beast for a week so had to make sure it was clean before returning. Land Rover Discovery 4 Landmark. 3L TDV6.
Magifoam certainly makes the task slightly less daunting.

Effortless with Iron-X. Quite a lot of dust debris for 7k car, owing to its weight I guess!
