Touch up pens? (Not sure) we used a touch-up pen on my car where rust was showing , worked well
No rust is showing. I already got 2 different touch-up kits the paint will not adhere though it needs filling & priming first as 1mm deep. I got a pro booked or tomorrow now it's only a tiny area but bothers me a lot so willing to spend £££ for a pro to make it go away & carefully blend the triple layer!

I had no drive to wash my car this time round and its been 2 months so took it the the local scratch wash. Lord only knows how many swirls they've added but I'm past caring now.

Couldn’t sleep last night so gave EuroCarParts a browse to find the majority of Soft99 Wax’s discounted.

Decided to go for Water Block Super Spash (300g - £13.49) it’s apparently extremely easy to remove unlike some of their other variants which can be stubborn to remove.

The plann is to lay down a base coat of Fusso F7 followed by Water Block (It can be layered and this combination works well apparently)

I originally wanted to try King of Gloss as it’s known for it’s darkening/tinting effect of the paint but with it being slightly more expensive, less durable more difficult to remove I decided to give it a miss, perhaps a summer wax option.

For anyone wanting to try Fusso Coat F7 is available from ECP for £9.89 - It’s said to perform the same but with far easier application and removal just suffering with a decreased durability at 7 months instead of 12.

Helpful blog which covers Soft99 Waxes and which is suitable for you in a good amount of detail.

Has anyone had any success getting decent adaptors for a dyson to get into the harder to reach bits in the car? I have an upright and a handheld but the normal fittings are a bit too big for some areas?

I use a drying towel and then go over the crevices with the blower. Not sure how long the charge lasts but I forgot to charge it after using it for a few weeks and still was able to finish off a car.

Much cheaper than the car detailing ones and handheld too.

looking for some advice on a new Pressure washer for car washing duties. budget circa £400 previous good experience of Nilfisk many moons ago only needs are a decent pressure and the ability to slap a snow foam lance on the end. what would be the suggestions?

i guess also a recommendation for a decent snow foam lance would be useful too :) nice car back on the drive so its back to 2bm and staying away from the hand car washes, no doubt my daily will also be thankful

i was talking about jet washes just the other day didn't i ?

well today after work i used one

here's why :

left work yesterday, tractor decides to pull out 100 yards in front of me from a field
you can guess what happened next :D

being as its a built up residential area

all the parked cars and all the moving car got covered in MUD (inc mine)

so went to the jet wash, only £1.50 to rinse it all off

BUT, it was really THICK on my wing mirror, i got most of it off, but a bit left, without scrubbing , best way to loosen / dissolve it ? will snow foam do it ?

to be honest with my last two cars and my current car i have used a professional detailer who visits me once every two months - spends about a day and charges £100

and scuffs are machined polished out

BUT

when i bought each of the last three cars (all pre owned) the first visit is the most expensive as he has to strip way all existing residue and machine polish the whole car to provide a perfect starting point - if you know what to look for even brand new cars have a less than perfect paint finish most commonly with the final clearcoat (typically 'orange peel')

many buyers of new supercars/hyper cars have a detailer work on the car before they actually use it - eg ceramic coatings etc

once my car is being looked after i ensure that when it goes in for service it does not get a Courtesy Wash (Landrover in my case) - they can cause havoc to a detailed car with their dirty sponges - be warned

is the expenses justified?

well, my last two cars were sold without being advertised - people knew them and asked for first 'dibs' if i decided to sell

South West Water have imposed a hosepipe ban in this area so I haven't been able to wash my car, how I want, for over 2 months now.

However reading over the 'discretionary exemptions' it says the following.

  • Cleaning a private motor vehicle using specific low water use apparatus such as pressure washers
However I don't think the neighbours in my street would know that and would probably quietly be scorning me if I did get my pressure washer out.

it most likely means a portable one from a bucket

AVA - without a doubt.

Picked up Autobrite - Repel (Glass Sealant) for almost half price today.

Going to apply it to the wipers as recommend and cross everything possible that there is no wiper judder :D

I nearly got that, went for h2o one instead. Works well, though I might add some ag glass polish too as the house glass cleaner leaves wet spots.

I have a bottle of AG Glass Polish which I will prep the Glass with using followed by an IPA Panel Wipe.

H2GO is it? Did you apply it to the wipers, I’ve believe it’s a key step otherwise you get wiper judder.

I paid only £6 (RRP is almost £14) I generally rate Autobrite products and find when not buying direct offers pop up all of the time.

I didn't, which I did used to do with ag glass polish. But no judder when I used them the other day!

Yeah H2GO, would've went for the autobrite if I'd seen it at that price.

I used this as an excuse to clean mine before Trax this year. Got some looks from passers by but whatever.

I don't normally venture into this part of the forum as I don't have a motor but my missus' daughters bf just got a car so I thought I'd get him some car related stuff for his Christmas (yes I know it's only October!) The simple gift would be car cleaning stuff. So the question is whats the go to cleaning gear?
