Must be a very recent change, my local one had fully stocked shelves of Autobrite Direct, Autofinesse and Autoglym a couple of weeks ago.

Anyone here using a petrol pressure washer at home? My Karcher has packed in and it's the second one I've had fail now so I'm done with them, looking for recommendations for a petrol one.

Kranzle are highly rated so I hear. Family friend uses theirs on the farm to clean their machinery.

or the Karcher line, I appreciate your current Karcher has given up, but I imagine the petrol varieties are built to a much better standard/last longer?

From what I've heard, Karcher have big brand recognition but **** reliability. Maybe try a better brand of electric one? Nilfisk?

I hear AVA are meant to be good also, plus you can use Karcher accessories/attachments with them also.

Can’t beat some autosol and fine wire wool. Have never cleaned the exhaust on my wife’s car, so figured I’d do a quick job today. Not bad for 5 minutes work:

Bumper gel seems to need doing again! Looking at the weather for the week I think I’ll stop at this point.

I mean next doors broke about 1/4 of the way into his drive clean. My nilfisk managed the whole drive and is still going strong after many years of use. Even living outside in the shed. I’ve had crazy value out of it.

My least fav. job today. Gave the engine bay a clean. It's such fiddly work. Urgh. :p

What's your minimum outdoor car cleaning temperature?
It's only 5°c outside today and TBH that's cold hands and cold damp feet territory for me. I want to clean it but it just feels too damn cold..... Or am I just being a bit of a ***** :D

As for recommendations for pressure washers..... for whatever reason they don't ever come up in google searches for "I want a better pressure washer than my forever failing karcher ****" type searches

But I am a convert to directhoses.net for all my stuff now, stays powerful, doesn't break, doesn't **** water everywhere that it's not supposed to, compact, hose fittings are quick release, nothing rusts, o rings don't fall apart after a year... ad infinitum...

A steam cleaner makes the job many times easier, especially for the hard to get to areas. Then just a microfibre cloth for collecting the grime. It saves on a lot of chemicals too. It’s my next job on both our cars. Looks good.

White is a terrible engine bay colour:

Probably 3-4C, although I probably won’t get the pressure washer out at that temperature. I’ve tried washing the car in colder weather, but a load of the water froze. I use disposable gloves these days that helps shield your hands a tiny bit.

Thanks! :) Will the electrics and what not be OK using the steamer? I guess just use it wisely. Great idea though - I hadn't thought of that. Loving your picture - so shiny!

Will be fine. Just work carefully around the electrics, most of the water evaporates immediately anyway. It’s great for getting into all the awkward areas. I picked one up for £70 on Amazon. It’s great in other areas too like where the doors open at the hinges that collects a lot of tricky to reach grime and around the boot mechanism too on mine.

Well, the car is dirty again and the rain hasn’t even hit hard yet. They’ll be chucking even more grit down, I hate the roads when they’re like this.

The engine is under the bonnet. I shall not be cleaning it. The risk of nailing a plug or something is not worth it lol!

Too much is covered these days to be able to impact much. You just have to use a bit of common sense and caution. If you keep it clean from new it’s very easy to do. Only for the car cleaning obsessives though I guess :p. I find it weirdly therapeutic. I guess it’s from growing up with a dad who did the same and I used to spend hours ‘helping’ him clean his cars and do up classics.
