The Carlos Tevez saga - what a tool

He may be a good player but you signed him knowing he was more than capable of this, then proceeded to make him your captain and give him over £200k a week. Fair enough he's scored some goals but City didn't exactly protect themselves from this that well and he has made a mockery of your club tbf. He is taking the wee a little bit

His contract never changed. He is paid the same now as when he signed for the club. He was made captain to convince him to stay and see it out, which he did to more or less great effect barring the January fiasco, so that was the right call. We then protected ourselves by buying Aguero, Dzeko and Balotelli, the most prolific front line of the league so far. That's about the best we could have done there too. Judging by the widespread support for the club against him, I'd say he succeeded more in making a mockery of himself. It's now up to the club to see this out the proper way, which I'm sure they will do.

And for those applauding Fergie, United wanted to take the option to buy Tevez and offered him a contract. We just offered him more money :) I'm sure he was doing anything but laughing into his porridge every morning watching him fire us to an FA Cup and the CL.

Of all the clubs though that this could be happening too, Man City by far has the least careface - darn it Tevez you pesky rebel, now we have to play Dzeko, Balotelli and Aguero instead, the humanity!

It's background noise unlike any other club where this kind of behaviour would represent a serious loss.

Also, it's a pretty risky move by Tevez when you have clubs/owners to which a few hundred thousand on legal fees is worth it to keep players in line - I'm sure at the time no-one thought that Chelsea would pursue Mutu and end up with him owing 17 million euros for breach of contract damages.

I hope we keep him just to annoy him, he is clearly doing all of this in the hope we just go ok here's a free to Boca. I am sure Sheikh and Khaldoon will not allow themselves and City to come out on the wrong side,
We still have 3 yrs of his registration left and can just keep handing out fines until he wakes up.

Won't it be funny if Man City do keep him but only put him on the bench in the League Cup and only play him when the clock is at 89th minute.

If he refuses to play, fine him.

Take that for 3 years. :D

Can't believe people are defending Tevez (I'm looking at you DM!!). Ever since he arrived in England both he and his agent have acted like morons. He must be in breach of his contract in one form or another so I think City should sack him, keep his player registration and then sue the backside off player and agent.

The problem is that the case is still going on nearly 7 years after he was sacked, he is appealing again if you didn't know.

No one in their right minds expects Mutu to pay up as he doesn't have the money and the money he has earned since leaving Chelsea is all squirrelled away from the clubs reach.

Players are like the banks, too big to fail!

There is no point sacking him as that's what he wants. To scurry away to Argentina/Brazil.

If we sue him for his playing value he will never be able to pay it and so we end up with 1m settlement and him having exactly what we wanted.

What we need to is just keep him and run his contract down, everytime he fails to show for training etc he is fined like he is now.

What makes me laugh is that after being found guilty of breach of contract he realises he has that he has no evidence to prove otherwise and runs off to Argentina. DM still seems to think that Tevez is in the right also

What we would like is to sack him and hold his registration for the remainder of his contract. What we would REALLY like is for someone in South America to buy him for 20m so at least we have something on the books. Unless UEFA will let us sack him, keep his registration AND accept a loss of transfer fee for FFPR based on Tevez being an absolute **** wit. Which would just be so good it would never happen.

I'm convinced Corinthians will come back in with 15-20m and first option on youngsters and some sell on fee etc. Good deal for both parties.

If the owners do that I will have huge respect for them, like Rich_L says no Man City player would step out of line in the future if they were to make an example of Tevez like that.

Players in recent times have figured out that they just need to act like babies and throw their toys out of the pram should they want a transfer, this has only worked in the past because most clubs would rather sell than to keep and pay a disruptive player who isn't going to give 100%, Man City can easily afford to let him rot until his contract is out and send a powerful message to any future Man City signing.

Funny thing is he was reportedly considering suing Souness and Mancini for defamation of character, then does a runner to Argentina when he's supposed to report back for training?

As for that clown Gordon Taylor, what a nugget he is.

I think Tevez must be really stupid, either listening to that agent of his or his simple behaviour.

Manchester City has actually arrived, has he not noticed that they are top of the league, in a good position in the champions league and firing on all cylinders? They can and probably will dominate English or European football for the next few years and he can be a part of that. He is 27 years old, he has may be 5 years at his peak at best and instead of making the most of it, he wants to go back to Argentina? Yes being away from his wife is hard, boo hoo, I am sure the £250,000 a week help a bit. Buy a private jet and go back every week or something. Or just suck it up for a few years and win a load of medals then go home.

Instead he is behaving like some kid who lost his toy.

you dont know anything about football tbh, he doesnt just turn up once a week for a match and then spend the next 6 days doing whatever he wants.

he will be training with the team at least two times a week also, as well as midweek matches.

there is no way possible he could fly to argentina and back in between his work and be fit to work (jet lag).

Why don't his family live in England for a couple of years? I'd live in occupied Iraq if my partner was earning £250k a week. :p

His family already live with him in England apparently. Did Kia not say a few weeks ago that his family were happy and would welcome another move to a Prem club?

He did, but now he's gone back to Argentina to see his family. Oh wait no, we're using the misunderstanding line again aren't we? Wonder what he's done now, got on the wrong plane? Dog ate his football boots? Family suddenly doesn't like the UK? What's that, Chelsea may be offering a 10m signing on fee? Oh, well he only said his family didn't like Manchester, they would love to move to London..

The silence from his camp is deafening, not even Mark Hughes has come out in his defence. He's ran away to hide and it's hilarious.

Seen it all. DM is the ultimate WUM. Trying to defend Carlos Tevez. Amazing.
I think what it is, is that DM won't allow himself to give Mancini any benefit of the doubt whatsoever, no matter what the argument.

Tevez could sacrifice Mancini's pets on the centre circle of City's pitch, eat their insides, and puke up the remainer onto Mancini's beloved scarf, and DM would still say it's his fault.
