The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

If you go to rivet city early and talk to the dr there, it skips part of the story. Basicaly when you first leave the vault you can go to megaton and moriarty tells you (in one way or another) that your father is heading to GNR.

GNR does add a little to the main story, but not a huge ammount, the main thing IMO is the journey there, as you can fight along side brotherhood of steel on the way, and even get some power armor and a fat man mini nuke launcher (which you can use to take down a behemoth super mutant that attacks).

That'd be it, then. I totally missed all of that. The first time I properly encountered the Brotherhood of Steel was after escorting Dr. Li etc out of the Jefferson Memorial, by which point I think I'd already hit the level cap. I played basically the whole game unable to equip power armor. And I never even saw a Super Mutant Behemoth, either :(

If you want to see a super mutant behemoth you could always go to overgreen mills. There is a behemoth there that some raiders have trapped inside an electric fence, which just outside the gate is a generator which when destroyed releases the behemoth. Be warned that they are quite powerfull though.

Think I just skipped a portion of the game by a fluke. I found vualt 112 whilst exploring. Managed to find dad! Quite funny watching him run across the wastelands in the distance heading for rivet city. Got a notice saying "Dad has been knocked unconscious" :D

I also missed the part where you get to fight with the brotherhood getting to the radio station, does this mean that there is nowhere else on the map I can get training for power armour?

You can't equip power armour until after that mission, no matter what you do. You need to be trained by someone inside the citadel. You can find power armour earlier, but you can't wear it.

You dont need to do that to get trained, i missed it completley as i never taled to the guy in megaton about 'Dad' he kept putting his price up for the info, so it advanced when i went to rivet city on a different quest, and ive got power armour training now, which u get when u talk to someone in the citadel.

i played around 20 hours and im still lvl 9 and exploring ill do the father mission at when i explore all or most of the side quests

I've just spend hours getting to grips with this. I'm at level 5 and have only explored half a dozen places. By the way you know there is a UK patch out now?

v1.0.0.15

Edit: It might not actually be new looking at that.

Found a cool incredible machines style trap ina grocery store here, called the golden some thing or other. Just walk in and follow the arrows you'll get some goodies if the contraption works properly. Reload if it doesn't.

Once you go to Rivet to see the Doctor, where the hell do you go next as it says you go back to his lab but its not clear where that is amd i cant rememner even going inot his lab?

At rivet you need to see Dr. Ling i think her name is, she is in the science lab. The actual doctor is in the surgery he is not who you want.

Aye i have seen her but it says i need to go back to my dads lab to get more holo graph stuff, the map seems to point me back to the history museum though.

^ not at Rivit, you said history museum, but i think its one of the memorials. there ll be lines on your map to go there. The sign above the door is gift shop.

*edit. Jefferson Memorial

I really want to get into this game as it looks great in parts, but i lose interest quickly and can't be doing with all the listening/interacting with various characters. Do you HAVE to talk/interact with every character to advance the game? And is there a lot of shooting, or is it mostly exploring?

Its a roll playing game so its likley to be uninteresting to you. Have you tried Dead Space?

I guess you could just go around killing everything you see, but i cant see that being very interesting. Exploring is where its at!
