The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Isn't there a mod or a way to edit the running speed?

I find it just a bit too slow, yesterday I had to go to Fort Constantine and it took me ages to get there as I never visited that part of the map :(

That'd be it, then. I totally missed all of that. The first time I properly encountered the Brotherhood of Steel was after escorting Dr. Li etc out of the Jefferson Memorial, by which point I think I'd already hit the level cap. I played basically the whole game unable to equip power armor. And I never even saw a Super Mutant Behemoth, either :(

Yeh I agree, they should have made certain places inaccessible until you got the 'key' or whatever from a main quest line. I was exploring the map and doing freeform quests and stumbled into vault 112 - I had no idea it was part of the main quest and happily wandered in, only to find that I'd missed a huge chunk of storyline when I got out again :(

I'm using one that gives me a 10% boost in speed

Same here. Didn't realise till I was stuck in the simulation and the little girl kept going on about my dad. Gutted really, guess I'll just have to play through again. Think I'll do just the story next time around.

So it would be best to do the main quests and stop before the last one and then do the sidequests and exploring?

But that takes away from the immersion within the game - if you can't do a) until you've done b) etc. I like that you can go anywhere and "stumble" upon a part of another quest.

For anyone worried about missing parts of the main quest if they go explore then stay away from Little Lamplight, vaults 87 and 112, the Jefferson memorial, and Dr li in rivet city. Those places are areas which involve in the main quest line, so interacting with any of them places could trigger a skip forward in the quest line.

If you decide to do the main quest and want to do lots of exploring after, then a great point to get to would be entering the citadel for the first time. Go into the citadel, get power armor training, then leave your main quest as showing talk to the scibe. If you leave the main quest there, and dont go to little lamplight, then you should have no problems.

I did all the Megaton Quests leaving the 'History of Rivet City' as the last quest to do.

Then I headed to GNR, did stuff for Three Dog, then went to Rivet City as part of the natural progression of the story. Checked out the Jefferson Memorial, and will now be avoiding Vault 112 for a while as I do some other quests (Shoot Em In The Head and Riley's Rangers) and some more exploring. :)

Actually sorry I shouldn't comment ont he story as I bypassed most of it by accident. There were some great moments though. Like the reillys rangers mission and exploring the vaults.

It's a superb game I'm loving it. Finding it quite difficult though. Dealing with the daylight/night hours is a bit of a pain. The thing is it feels so vast that it's easy to miss bits, and the fact you can complete a quest in different ways is just so clever.

I got a bit bored earlier on and decided to go postal in Megaton. I shot everyone I could find and left a pile of smouldering limbs by the crater. I noticed that some of the dudes have keys - is there a legitimate way to get the keys other than pickpocketing or killing them?
