The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

I can't get this game running above 1400*1050 resolution... that's the highest available to me in the drop-down box.

I'm sure I may be able to manually edit the .cfg file, but still... strange.

You dont have to listen to all they say, you can have subtitles on and read what they are saying and just skip the rest of what they are saying, faster to read than to listen.

Just finished the game, more than a little bit annoyed you can't free roam after finishing, I do hope that Bestheda add this in as a patch. I've reloaded just before I started the last quest so I can continue leveling up and finish exploring.

Anyhow up to that point I'd put 26 hours into it and managed to get up to level 16.

It's an absoloutely EPIC game really is difficult to express how much enjoyment and immersion I got out of it and it easily tops as one of my all time favourites up there with the likes of Bioshock. No doubt I absoloutely loved it/still am loving it.

What difficulty would you all recommend for the game?

I started the game yesterday and i'm not very far into it at all, but i'm concerned about a few things, mainly difficulty, and levelling too quickly.

I'm considering Hard or Very Hard for difficulty, since i read that the game becomes too easy (i only plan on doing 1 playthrough).

Also which levelling mods would be recommended? I've seen the list on the FO3 mods thread, and i want to slow down levelling (since there seems to be a problem of hitting the level cap rather quickly if you do a fair amount of exploring and killing), but i dont want to mess around with the game TOO much. So i guess it is between "Slower Levelling" and "BetterPacingMod". Which is better in your opinion?

Start the game on normal - if you find that you're levelling too fast, switch it to hard. I absolutely love this game :)
Setting the difficulty higher means you get more XP and level even faster.

The higher the difficulty the more XP you get when killing enemies.
On normal you already get 50XP for killing a Super Mutant, I am only on the Rivet City main quest and doing a lot of sidequests and already I am close to level 15 on normal.

You don't level faster, because the game is MUCH harder - on normal a group of 3 super mutants (2 normal, 1 brute) would be fairly easy at higher levels. On hard, this would be a real challenge, meaning you might need to run away and come back.

the speed of levelling doesnt really bother me (I'm lvl 15 and have hardly touched the main quest)

I'm just loving the atmosphere of the game and discovering settlements out in the wasteland..I'm a good guy so fully intend the wipe paradise city of the map (when I find it!!)

I also intend to play the game through as a complete cad next..and murder everybody I come across and see what Three dogs has to say about THAT on glaxy readio, considering he slagging me off for saving a settlement but not rehousing a boy!!

Can highly recommend the mods to slow down the XP rate.

Ones I'm currently using...

VATSVeryHard.esp
Slower Degradation (50%).esp
Fallout3BetterPaceMod.esp
MorphineRenameMod.esp
AmplifiedCrippledEffects020.esp
MaxLevel30.esp
CrossRepairWeapons.esp

Level 30 cap and faster running are my mods of choice.

Also means that if Normal gets too easy and I switch to Hard, the extra xp won't see me max out too soon :)

Loving the music in this game!

Hey everybody, did the news get around
About a guy named Butcher Pete
Oh, Pete just flew into this town
And he’s choppin’ up all the women’s meat

He’s hackin’ and wackin’ and smackin’
He’s hackin’ and wackin’ and smackin’
He’s hackin’ and wackin’ and smackin’
He just hacks, wacks, choppin’ that meat

So bongo, bongo, bongo I don’t want to leave the congo
Oh no no no no no
Bingle, bangle, bungle I’m so happy in the jungle I refuse to go
Don’t want no bright lights, false teeth, doorbells, landlords
I make it clear
That no matter how they coax him
I’ll stay right here
