The Crew

Finally got round to playing this just now and so far the story seems very straightforward and laughable, the graphics are ok but everything seems to be just a blur and its hard to tell what you you'll crash into or drive straight through. The map seems huge and i like how you can just zoom into any location but I think i'll pass on this. Mind, im not a one for driving games anyways but the cars seem floaty when turning but the detailed driver view is nice and worked well when driving. Hope you guys get a chance to try it out cause it certainly seems like a fun premise.

Signed up for this ages ago. Didn't get an invite it seems. Anyone got one spare? Don't fancy signing up to facebook just for an invite.

Ok so ive been playing for around about 8-10 hours now

and think im a little more educated to talk about the game now.

Lets start of with a couple of things i don't like about the game in it's current BETA stage

Sessions, work very similar to how they did in TDU2 for those of you who played you will know what i am talking about. The idea is simple, the game will put you in a small session of players on the fly who you can then fully interact with.

However the problem i am personally facing with the sessions is that they seem to put me with people who are to far away like 8-20miles

Does not seem like a long way but just to join another player in a open world i see it getting tedious.

The next thing i dislike about the game in it's current state is ubisofts ridiculous choice of capping the game at 30fps.

you can remove the 30fps cap by going into

C:\Users\username\Documents\The Crew

Opening "PCScalability" in notepad and changing the fps to what you desire,

Please note i changed mine to 120, and removed Vsync however i still seem capped at 60fps. But it is still better than 30

This said, it still does not shine any light on why ubisoft opted to do this.

-SLI, Simply put for you guys running SLI, Forget about it. You need to disable a card before you play as it will cause graphical glitching from the sun making it unplayable.

please see image below

Performance with sli dissabled for me was not great. after removing the 30fps cap, i struggle to hit near 60fps and mainly sit around 35fps on a single 780 ( please see setup in sig ) i can only hope that this will be fixed with a patch soon.

Ok small rants aside now lets get into the game itself

The games story so far has been surprisingly good as far as it's competition with other racing games goes. Though it is never going to have a hope of kissing the boots of lets say, the last of us. it still delivers a catching story-line and that's always welcome in a game where you least expect it.

The map ...... holy balls this is HUGE i feel like i have barley scratched the surface of the map yet it's just that big

Do i see the large size of the map becoming a issue, no not at all if you wish to, you can fast travel back to places you have already discovered, with no loading screens or delay, right click when you want to go, click fast travel. That's it done you have arrived.

Also the game boasts a lot of random event's throughout the world, that once again, need no loading screens, just drive through the starter ( easily avoidable ) and being the trial. From Hitting targets. slaloms, speed runs and many more. these events also unlock upgrade parts for vehicles.

I see the map being a great part of the game as it's going to offer endless hours exploring and finding new areas. ( my personal favorite part of TDU2 and now the crew )

Graphics. This is an odd one really, i have noticed people in this thread saying the game is not great looking. While this is a matter of opinion, it is not shared with me. I think for the scale of the map, it is actually a pretty good looking game. Sure it's not crysis. but please take a look at it's main competitor. You guessed it, TDU2.

It does seem to have a odd grainy film effect on it however that i can understand being off putting.

Overall the game feels great to play, the controls are nice, not perfect but not dreadful and is not to hard to drive at all.

my favourite part of the game... The ability to make crews, this may seem like a wasted point but once again i am back to TDU2 and yes i may seem biased because of this. But please look at the other games out there. untill now, there never was another game like TDU2.

Do i know why i loved TDU2 absolutely not. But i did it was just so much fun driving around with friends racing, exploring and having a good unscripted laugh.

But the issue with it was your fun would be taken away by a terrible server setup where you would randomly loose your session and would take days to get into game with friends again.

But the ability to make a crew has completely resolved this. Adding people to your crew is simple and takes 30 seconds in game time

Then until the crew is disbanded you will be permanently in session with everyone in your crew. i have yet to have a issue with this system.

Please note from this that i am no professional and i am just giving my opinion of what i have played so far!

I hope this could be of help to you guys

( one more thing i dislike is not having a spare beta key for the game for a good friend of mine who is trying to get on the game with me )

i know cd key requests are being thrown all over but guys if you do have a spare one i would genuinely appreciate it.

If i have missed anything from this that you would like to know, please let me know and i will edit the post

Kind regards

In a crew you can do nearly all of the story missions together, you can do the challenges together, battle with other crews. Truthfully the extent of what you can do in a crew, i am still exploring. But im expecting it to be vast as the whole game is built around teamwork.

I can't really anwser this question in full but i will certainly get back to this before the beta is over

well i've been trying to play with little luck, i can get in ok (if after very long server loading time) but almost as soon as i get it i loose my 'session', i can still play but can't see other players or add friends to crews etc.

Funny on the exit screen it said 'never play alone!', if only that were possible.

Also OMG at the number of ppl i have to mute as all i hear are keyboard and random noises and god knows what else.

Gave up for today.

Holy mackerel. This has some of the best character models I've ever seen. Cutscenes I thought were jaw dropping.

Hey buddy. To add friends to crew you need to do a few missions to unlock the crew roster

Won't take to long .

If you need any help let me know

I was watching Gamspots live stream of this last night, and they said the map is completely open for driving anywhere you want in the beta.

Got my key this morning, looking forward to seeing what its like!

It sure is :D! not all of it has missions and stuff to do yet though, but it certainly is open!

Still not working. Doesn't seem to be any Ubisoft people on the closed beta support forum.

I guess this is why I get Ubisoft games on console...
