Make sure you adjust your controller settings too, makes the world of difference. This game allows for some serious control adjustments.
Changing the handling:
Press the “Options” button
Navigate to “settings”
Move “Steering Factor” to the far right
Leave “Steering Sensitivity” one or two ticks from the middle
Forza: Move “Steering Linearity” two ticks from the left
NFS: Move “Steering Linearity” two ticks from the right

What is it you don't like out of curiosity? Personally I enjoy it, especially with friends.

I started playing last night. At first I wasn't sure if I was enjoying it enough to continue but I feel it is growing on me now. Actually looking forward to playing it tonight.
139 hours of my 140 hours total played, were played solo. Other people are not needed at all if you don't want them.
Not often i play current/recent PC games but got this one free on the Ubisoft free game.
Downloaded/installed over night, tried to play it.
First run it crashed with "The crew game has stopped working" error dialog box.
tried again, it worked got into the game played it got a few mins in boom crashed again - same error
restarted the PC tried to load the game again everytime it loads goes to a black screen just as its about to load then i get the stoped working dialog box.
Has anyone got any ideas on what i could try.

I didn't really get on with the handling, the driving physics were a bit meh and for a driving game I thought that would be the number 1 thing to really try and make solid. I did have a try with the different handling settings which in fairness did improve things, but still was just pretty average.
Got a little more into the game, it's actually better now I've got my original car to level 46, just really doing things in my own order, exploring, doing the skill challenges etc. It's not to bad now but I've still put in less than 5 hours.
One thing that's really made it into something decent, is plugging my G29 in and using that and playing from inside the car, it's really good fun. I'm just driving really, some of the rally events actually feels pretty good with the wheel, much better than I originally thought the wheel would behave. I couldn't care less about the story, I'm just having fun driving from state to state doing all the little exploration things and skill challenges haha. Just playing it like I'm a driver in the world, stopping at lights etc haha. I loved Test Drive Unlimited 2 just driving around the Island taking in the sites, this I'm finding very similar.
7/10 for a free game.

I couldn't even get teh splash screen up. Constant crashes with "The Crew has stopped responding" and every thing I tried (turning off anti-virus, running as admin, turning off all troublesome programmes, deleting certain files) failed until I updated my drivers. Works perfectly since then.
installed the latest radeon drivers, still get the same problem. worked fine for about 10 mins the 2nd time i tried to run it, now it just wont run at all due to the stopped responding error.
