The Crew

haven't tried online coop games yet, would be good to have a go if we are online at the same time :)

Only niggling thing I have so far is drove all the way to St. Louis, drove around looking for a dealership, so asked on the freeride chat if anyone knew where it was. There was a good few people driving about but NOTHING in reply for over half an hour. COME ON PEOPLE! ITS AN ONLINE GAME!

Outside of that, I think it looks great, the 370Z sounds correct and handles nicely and its overall good fun. The fact you have the jump, speed and precision missions enroute on big journeys is pretty cool too :)

Biggest wow.....the sheer scale and the fact there are NO load times at all :)

The Chat doesnt work!, Not sure if there is a Dealer in St.Louis!

To be fair I think they have issues with the chat interface, difficulty to read/see would be my take on it. From the little iv'e seen on the forum, they're going to update it in a future patch. Odd when you consider they had a lengthy beta, but for the most part the notifications stand out... if a little clunky in the fact they require you to knock though the mouse/keyboard interface.

Afaik there's no dealer in saint lou.

IGN magic:

The world The Crew features five different Car Dealers, each with its own set of cars to select and purchase. Each one is located in a major city in one of the five main regions.
◾Detroit Car Dealer
◾New York Car Dealer
◾Miami Car Dealer
◾Las Vegas Car Dealer
◾Los Angeles Car Dealer

Hate to sound negative, but not'a lot:o

Your right it isn't a lot however im quite sure we will gradually see it improved in the blight called DLC.

That said though. Even though it is a small amount it does take a LOT of work to max out your cars. ive got 48hrs + so far and have one car thats maxed out in its level, and its still not as good as it can be by getting better roles on the stat boosts.

I think its more than enough cars for the amount of time and effort required to work them. Especially your first.

Also the awards are ace ( when they work ) adding a lot of gametime to those who care about collecting them or enjoy doing it

Overtake million cars... WAT

Definitely.

The challenge is there, just about everything iv'e done thus far, story mission, race wise, it's been down to the wire in terms of victory.

Extremely satisfying. The content is fun, the pick up's, world, love all of that, but ill have to stand on my feet and stick with the cars. Something I never groan about tbh. Im from the 8bit era where one was your lot, 3 was bloody amazing, and when I see people moaning about 200 odd fully done in a gran tris game it beggers belief to me.

Just that having seen the 100's other games offer up off the bat, you'd expect more of a base selection in this type of game. No gripes with dlc updates i can ignore, but this one tips the balance for me, a couple of hundred on the base... as a casual player I wouldn't feel the need to spend on dlc cars. Flip side of that, those hardcore, totally invested in the game that trip out everything would lap up the extras... how you'd hope it would work.

I've been having fun with the challenges and it has always been close with my getting silver/bronze on most events.

Anyone got any pro tips to make money, it seems super slow going? I noticed one of the Ferrari's is 1mil! I'm stuck at like 50k after owning two cars...

Finish story - get a tuned track or perf car do faction missions / 88000 per mission

Also one thing I wish they would put in is real estate and being able to walk around your garage looking at your cars ! Like test drive.

Got platinum medals on all jumps / scrambles now will finish race lines tonight !

Ahhh ok would explain why I lost ages not finding one then lol

Didn't know chat was busted either....I really need to catch up

Is chat actually broken or is that someone's opinion?

Crew chat definitely works. I think the '/w <playername>' chat works for messaging specific random players. I'm still not certain but I attempted to ask someone to join my crew after spotting them on a street and they hit the brakes and came back then invited me. My guess is that many can't be bothered to pull out the keyboard or remember the commands.

The Freeride chat would be excellent but I haven't received anything after many attempts so I suspect that's not working.

A couple tricks you can do in The Crew that I learned over the time I played this game so far:
- Slalom skills always start towards the right.
- Chat disappears when you are switching servers.
- In order to see invisible crew friends, stay in the same area for 2-5 mins.
- Using nos in short bursts for certain cars with high acceleration is more efficient than using it all at once.
- "Ghost ramming" is possible by opening up your map just 0.1 seconds away from when you ram someone, this way you keep your speed and the person still gets rammed.
- 2 colors can be applied to your car in your home garage. The car color, the car stickers, and the rims can be freely applied to any car if you purchase them once.
- Sending friends to faction missions can earn you up to 160k every 3 hours.
- You can get inside any train or moving object that can be reached from the ground by going in front of it and opening your map, then coming back in-game after 1-2 seconds.
- The L.A canals section that goes in the sea allows your car to drive shortly on the water if going full speed, that area also has many "unofficial ramps" which you can use to jump on top of buildings and into freeways.
- Pterodactyls fly around the south in the Keys and the Swamp.
- Koenigsigg is painfully bad right now, do not waste your money on it.

I've heard the Ford GT and Ford Fiesta RS are the best two cars. Where can we buy/win these? EDIT: Found the Fiesta in the New York dealership.

The stats are apparently no reflection to the drive feel due to four wheel drive and gear ratio's not being taken into account, but here's a comparison spreadsheet if you're interested.

This game has also sparked the TDU feeling in me.

It might very well be my next purchase, even though I've gone off Ubisoft recently.

Taken from the UBI forums during beta and still works now

Step 0: Plug in a 360 controller and set the mode to Sport.
Step 1: See the Steering Speed Factor slider? Move it all the way to the right.
Step 2: Like Forza? Move Steering Linearity to two ticks from the lowest setting (left-most). Like NFS? Move Steering Linearity to two ticks from the highest setting (right-most).
Step 3: Leave Steering Sensitivity in the middle-ish. Just a tick or two up or down from center, based on preference.
Step 4: ????
Step 5: Profit

Enjoy having your car not handle like a brick in an ice rink.

Also tweak the steering deadzone a little, ive got mine 2 clicks from most left. Dependent on your 360 joysticks.

Thank you so much :D

landmarks are a decent way to begin making money - once you unlock (find) a data station in an area (the satellite dish) it shows you the local landmarks (bell symbol). When you stop at those for the first time & press Enter, you get 2,000 for each landmark - think you should be able to fast travel to those ;)

Heh.

Just drive around Detroit, every time you look up you'll see another landmark. Something you should do par the course anyhow, stunning place to drive around, plus there's normally plenty of new guys to co-op with.

Despite my one gripe, had a blast with it yesterday. First pickup 3 part mission co-op style, felt great when completing it.

Just me.... but after they patched it, had about 5 ctd's

yes, it's a good game....i'm playing this & far cry 4 at the moment & i'd be happy if i'd chosen either one.

and it has wheel support. I've been using a logitech g27 with these settings: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=352252073 Works pretty well, but, honestly, so does a PS3 controller ;)

thanks for reply... is this an only online game? would probably only play one of these two games ... not into the assassin!

The crew is currently a online only game and ubisoft has said they have no current plans to make a offline version. You don't NEED to play with others however.
