The Cryptolambo had gone to the moon... Time for Cryptolambo 2!!!

Hi all,

Car was collected yesterday and taken to Lambo (too busy to take it myself so had them pick it up) to investigate a weird knocking noise. They have found the cause it seems with a mount issue, now fixed.

Asked also for a VHC given its had 2 track days recently. Here is what they send back in general alongside a report. Thought some people might like to see a bit more of the underside so just screen recorded it and uploaded to youtube.

So after getting the car back its been sat on the drive, havent had a reason to go out and when I have its been crap weather so took the landy.

Went to go out in it today and the door wont open, crap. Rang lambo service Birmingham, no clue. Rang lambo service Manchester, no clue. Got told to ring lambo breakdown, no clue.

The car has a large parasitic draw and starts to misbehave if left more than a few weeks without trickle or being driven.

The problem was the window wasnt dropping when pushing the door open, as the doors open upwards they dont/cant clear the seals.

After looking through the workshop manual, found theres an emergency way in, which while it doesnt do the full drop, allows the window to drop 5mm or so, just enough you can carefully push the trim out of the way and open the door. Bingo.

Turning the ignition on a christmas tree of low battery warnings and lights, so got out the jump pack. Hooked it up and boom, probably the smoothest start its done in a while. Left it to idle for 15 mins while sorted out the trickle charge.

Also have new engine bay struts on the way as these no longer work, so big stick had to do the job.

New battery ordered also, as I feel this one isnt holding charge long enough so probably on the way out if 2 weeks is enough to cause big enough problems to have to break into my own car.

Just curious but shouldn't it be on a conditioner 24/7. I'm lucky in that I can leave the 360 on conditioner year round in the garage. Wouldn't dare leave it even 3 days off this as the parasitic draw on these is horrendous and it would be stone dead.

Tbh I'd be worried even leaving my 435d for two weeks unused. However I guess the Lambo is much more modern so I guess you should expect it to be fine to leave?

I recommend if leaving a few weeks get a ctek and hook it up on a dry day every now and then, as I understand that it lives outside year round? that sounds like may just about suffice.

Meh I don't know lol.

Usually I hook the ctek up, was just lazy this time and got bitten for it :)

Hi all!

So, today was a year since collecting the lambo. And what a year! I am still absolutely in love with this car, it is such an event to drive and always brings a smile to my face, and also to so many who see it.

As is traditional, a breakdown of the costs of ownership for the year, these are full costs assuming you have no insurance/warranty and didnt get any deals:

4 Dot Numberplates: £145
New exhaust: £6600
Custom wiring loom for exhaust: £950
Heat wrap: £250
Paint protection: £4300
Replacement wheel spoilers: £78
2x Wheel paint refurb/repair £150
Lambo diagnostics: £177
Brake pad sensors: £155
Gas lifts: £90
4 tyres: £900
Service: £2400
New spoiler wing: £5000
Replacement water pump: £1600
Microswitch: £57
Replacement brake fluid for SRF: £60
Insurance: £900
Tax: £609
MOT: £45
Training at milbrook: £1430
Petrol: £4160 YMMV.

Total ish: £30056

Now bare in mind a lot of that cost was covered by warranty work and I made deals/rebates on some of it, so realistically the cost to me for ownership in the last year or so is a lot less, for example theres nearly £7k of warranty work just on the water pump and spoiler wing alone.

If you drop out the "optionals" I put into the car, zorst, PPF etc and assume you take warranty as youd be stupid not to on a car like this with the huge bills it can chuck out:

Normal Numberplates: £50
Replacement wheel spoilers: £78
2x Wheel paint refurb/repair £150
Lambo diagnostics: £177
Brake pad sensors: £155
Gas lifts: £90
4 tyres: £900
Service: £2400
Insurance: £900
Tax: £609
MOT: £45
Petrol: £4160 YMMV

Total ish: £9714

With the majority being eaten up in £80 of petrol a week. And again theres even optional in that, like the tyres, the gas lifts, the wheel refurbs/repairs.

Anyway, some pictures after a clean:

@kindai , you didn't refuel in hungerford on Sunday afternoon did you? If so I was next to you!

Not me!

Also have you ever had grief for no front plate?

I had a few stares from the five-0, but I think they would rather not try and get into a discussion of if its legal or not and the potential headache around that.

So apparently they wernt happy with the way I accelerated the car.

Then proceeded to try and throw everything they could at me. Nothing would stick and they know it.

"it just sounds and looks fast - I wasn't going quick at all" - "Well in that case were doing you for parking too far from the curb... "

Pretty much.

First it was driving dangerously, then it was carelessly, to which I said would you have any evidence that I broke the speed limit, or was not in control of the car and fully aware of my surroundings.

He had a think and then said I accelerated too quickly for a supermarket car park. And went with issuing a warning.

Meanwhile while the other 5 of them checked the tyres, checked the number plate (claimed the front wasnt legal, showed the 4dot card which shows it is fully legal and meets all criteria). Claimed the exhaust wasnt declared on insurance (it is). Declared I needed contacts / glasses on. (Showed them my laser eye surgery discharge letter).

Already contacted west mercia police to have the warning struck as looking at the CPS guidance and previous cases, nothing meets the standard for a section 3 warning (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/section/3) going to do a FOIR on the 6 coppers for any complaints for harassment against them and possibly file a harassment complaint.
