it maynot be as pretty as Crysis 1

but definately stresses GPU as hard

in Extreme mode - I get temps equivalent to OCCT - no other game gets close to those temps
 
You need the Crysis config tool chaparral. I just have mine on extreme with motion blur disabled - getting around 55FPS constant.

I agree with Buckster, this is the only game where I have to turn up my fans on my GPU loop - I was playing for about an hour and got temps of around 68 degrees yesterday!
 
Hi all, only just been playing Crysis 2 online recently, only thing is, ive still yet to hear anyone talk on the mics? Am I doing something wrong? Theyre not muted or anything like that. Do I need to install something in order to hear people on the mics?

Hmm - have gotten a little further along. It holds up well to most FPS games, but it doesn't deserve to have the Crysis name. The first game was so open and unique in its own right; Crysis 2 has been dumbed down massively. The graphics are pretty average too (extreme setting).
 
I think it's a pretty decent game, I'm spending more time on Crysis 2 than I am on Shift 2 Unleashed which I bought at the same time. I was surprised to see the game decide that I should run the graphics on Extreme with my C2D 3.0Ghz/4GB RAM/HD 5850 and it runs quite smoothly as well. I guess that's down to the console-ish-ness of Crysis 2 compared to it's full-on PC predecessor.

That's more to the poor (is unoptimised a better word here?) coding than working the gpu though. Yay for cross platform. :(

That sucks, I'm abit lost with the whole story line though, Prophet went back to the island and was followed by his two surviving team members.

How did he get there from the island and what the hell happened to the Brit!!!

Upon playing earlier I had a constant 60fps with vsync and on extreme, then just launching Crysis 2 again there I was greeted by the auto update to patch 1.4 and now my fps has bombed into the 30 - 40's and fluctuating erratically... I'm on 11.3 Catalysts with CAP5.

[Edit] Silly anti-virus is playing with it. It's ok.

Crysis 2 PC Patch 1.4 - Now Live!

A new Crysis 2 PC patch is coming next week and we'd like to give you a preview on some of the changes that will be included.

PC Changes:

* • Vote-kicking feature added.
* • Added a reserved slot system for server admins.
* • Further improvements to anti-cheat measures.
* • Objectives are returned if they end up in forbidden areas.
* • Fix for Nanosuit Modules that could not be leveled in some circumstances.
* • Fix for some instances of errors logging into multiplayer that would report "Could not connect to Gamespy".
* • Fix for unlock tokens failing to be awarded if a player quit a game in which they leveled up before the end of the round.
* • Fix for inconsistencies with weapon zooming.
* • Fix for outdated stats being saved when a client leaves mid-game.
* • Fixes to the Nanosuit Reboot option available at level 50.
* • Fixed several weapon exploits.
* • Fixed a rare issue where auto-aim, stealth kill and grab would not work on an AI.
* • Reduced memory footprint of sound.
* • Optimized full screen effects on some graphics cards.
* • Optimized SSAO on some graphics cards.

Updates

Update: Patch should now be available and automatically download. Please check that your version has been updated to the latest "1.4.0.0" version via the Crysis2.exe details.

Not all servers are updated to the latest version so there will be a short period of time where only a limited amount of servers are available but keep trying and more servers/slots will become available soon!

Update 2: Steam patch was rolled out but a glitch occured with the rest which is why the patch isn't yet available. Please bear with us while this rollout issue is resolved. Further information in the last post.

Update 3: Autodownloader is now picking up the patch so you should be able to download it. If the patch doesn't automatically download, please use Crysis2Launcher.exe in the Crysis2/Bin32 folder.

le sigh.... Hadnt played the multiplayer in about a week due to the amount of cheaters. It is a very fun game but ruined completely by the sheer amount of cheats in every game. Saw these patch notes and thought 'yay maybe a few days of good gaming...' WRONG.

1st game I join. a guy who is 13-0 but i give him the benefit of the doubt as it can happen followed by instant headshot headshot headshot headshot.... oh dear here we go again. But wait! they have implemented a vote kick feature but ... why hasnt anybody else done that yet?!? oh well maybe its because most gamers are too dumb to know what a console is and so crytek thought it would be a good idea to hide the voting system into console commands..... tried 2 more games: same shiz. Maybe next time.....
 
Decided to get this on the PC instead of PS3 and kinda wishing I went for the PS3 version now. Plays very much like a console game and even though the FPS is smooth on my system, it still feels abit slow on movement and the suit controls are annoying compared to the first game in my honest opinion.

Not sure how far I am into it at the moment but so far the story has been pretty average, especially compared to the first game.
