***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

does anyone even play Cysis 2 MP anymore?

wasnt that active last time i tried to play

and my mates on the 360 havent touched it for weeks and they say its not that active on that platform

and we all know what's going on with ps3 users ;)

Completed this the other night, thoughts as follows:

+Graphically looks decent although obviously not up there with Crysis
+Good performance, 60-120fps on an overclocked GTX470
+Game length was about right, there were a couple of points where I thought "this might be it" but it then kept on going
+Nice to do some fighting in a city for a change
+Streamlined suit with upgrades put a bit more focus on it, I hardly bothered with it at all in Crysis
+Defense sections alongside other marines are quite good fun

-Not enough variety of baddies
-Ending kinda sucks
-Some obvious invisible wall shenanigans going on, most noticably in Gould's lab where you couldn't get round his side of the desk, and near the end where you are supposed to walk through this alien tunnel and I tried to walk on top of it instead, got blocked for no reason
-Not really convinced why my character is so willing to do what he's been told by randoms he's only just met (or hasn't met...), could be marine training I suppose
-Lack of variety in Environments
-Alien sections don't quite cut it (and bear in mind I'm not one of those that likes to bash the alien sequences in Crysis)
-Upgraded Stealth seemes a bit overpowered, some of the later sections of the game I just ran through enemy bases

Tried playing this again today. Still not doing it for me. I really like the suit and weapons but it becomes way too easy to just go into stealth mode and pick off the enemies. Haven't died once and I am playing it on hard.

I find the lack of variety in enemies quite dull. The lack of variety in everything in the game is quite dull to be honest :o

Is it me, or does it seem pretty disjointed in places? For example: Getting thrown out the building by a Cell marine guy, falling with him and then getting severely hurt, but no explanation as to what happens, you just go onto another section with Gould giving you a briefing.

Still completing the game, but I can't be that far from the end now. A lot of the time it didn't really seem like I knew where I was meant to be going. TBH, I pretty much ignored the Visor option, and the 'tacticle assessment' mode. I just went around killing everyone where necessary and going to the end. (Whether that was sniping, or hit-and-stealth-and-run.

EDIT: one daft point I remember is you not being able to blow a hole in an electric fence to get through, and having to disable that fence by going somewhere else first. If I have grenades and a rocket launcher that seems kinda daft.

Oh, I have been enjoying playing the game, and will replay it... just I think it needs a little more work on the chapter progression.

this part really confused me too, it was like they where setting you up for some sort of tense recovery on the next stage but the next area just loads and you start in a different place as if nothing had happened.

Well I completed it the other day. Finished the "final boss fight" without killing any aliens apart from the ones that you HAVE TO KILL right at the end which screwed up my cloaking strategy somewhat (if you save up from the start and get the mega cloak early on you could do much of the game by just walking past everyone cloaked).

Overall this game was another dull shooter to add to the growing pile of dull shooters. The story was pants, the game was full of bugs (ai walking into walls, blown up parts of of helicopters slowly rotating in the same piece of sky), the vehicle sections were the usual trash and OMG the scripted events EVERYWHERE. Every time the suit came up with "tac assessment avaliable" I ignored it, why do I need hand holding? Are gamers these days really so colossally retarded that they dont know what to do when face with an arena full of enemies?

Graphics-wise as everyone has said not the leap people were expecting from the people who gave us the first two Crysis games. The one standout problem for me was the "rubbish" "floating2 on the water. Too lazy (or constrained by console hardware) to actually have 3D pieces of rubbish floating in the water instead the got a 2D texture of some rubbish and painted it in the top of the water... this wouldnt be too much of an issue if it was in some dark corner somwhere...but its EVERWHERE! Every goddamn piece of water has this giant condom/bottle and other garbage crudely painted on the surface. Its not even a GOOD texture damnit.

Oh and one more thing, did anyone notice that all the reflections in windows were of the same street? Regardless of whether you are on the top of a building or not even on a street. That is mega pants, they didn't even try.

Crytek I am disappoint.

Got this for £13 last week because i didnt want to pay £27 for game with bad reviews
but i think i might be the only one that likes it lol.

Graphics - not a huge leap like everyone was expecting but the graphics are good and not as half as bad as it is made out to be
Gameplay - dull and boring? not for me, kept me playing 4 hours straight each time.
Performance - really good even on low end cards

only problems i have with it are, no DX11 on release like they said it would have had and the invisible wall thing other than that though i give it a 7.5/10 and worth the £13

I didn't really see any bad reviews really. Some people were moaning for the sake of it. Some people just didn't want to like the game, for some reason.

For example, Invisible walls were moaned about to hell with Crysis 2, but hasn't been mentioned for TW2

Crysis 2- "No Direct X 11, it's a travesty!!"
The Witcher 2 " Isn't it amazing what the game can do with Direct X 9"

I may as well chip in here. I've gotta give this a solid 8.5/10, maybe even a 9 (I'm not very generous with my game scoring either). Honestly one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, awesome and challenging battles from about the 3rd/4th hour to the last, some incredible action sequences and huge setpieces, stunning visuals and varied combat... I'm not sure there are any legitimate reasons for FPS fans to hate on this game, other than the usual 'console port WTF!!!!1111oneoneone' comments.

I loved the previous games, but I think all the talk about how they've 'got rid of the large environments and sandbox gameplay' is rubbish! How many people actually utilised the whole area that was available to them in Crysis 1? Doesn't anyone remember enclosed area after enclosed area in Warhead? (often cited as the better game of the 2). There were areas in Crysis 2 that were huge, but regardless of that, you're still heading for an objective, so you make your way towards the area of the objective as you would with any other game.

The only complaints I have is the lack of flying aliens/aircraft, the shortness of the driving sequences, the lack of massive alien machinery and the lack of an explanation about what happened in the aftermath of the first game (hundreds of thousands of alien aircraft were flying away from the island on the last level... how did they not take over the world in a matter of days?)

Seriously epic stuff though and a sizeable campaign. Wish I bought it on day 1 tbh

New patch inbound today , qouted from the mycrysis forums

PC Patch Preview - Going Live Tomorrow (01/06)
Post 05 25, 2011 /04:33

Hi everyone!

We've got a list of changes that will be coming in the next patch that we'd like to share with you. There's some great new features coming to Crysis 2, one of the main ones being the new "Advanced Graphics Options" menu which will allow you to tweak graphics settings beyond the presets.

We also added a feature to the votekick system which allows voting to be performed with a simple press of the F1 key. To initiate votekicks on players is still the same method as before, however to vote for that kick, all you need to do now is hit the F1 key. There's many other changes included in the up coming patch, check them out below!

New Features
• Added advanced graphics options
• Added F1 to vote during vote kicks
• Prematch mode for ranked servers added allowing people to fight on the map until sufficient players have joined for the ranked play to start
• Upped the default score limits in some game modes:
• - Crash Site has a limit of 175 (was 150)
• - Team Instant Action has a limit of 75 (was 50)
• - Instant Action has a limit of 30 (was 25)

Fixes
• Fixed vote kicking not working for players with certain characters in their name
• Fixed ping display displaying 1000 for many servers in the PC server browser
• Fixed issue where terrain would be rendered in black on some levels
• Fixed single player save games with broken nano catalyst values (NB: This is for existing save games!)
• Fixed under-barrel attachment HUD displaying incorrectly
• Fixed minor 'Loadout Pro' exploit
• Fixed issue with being melee'd during a ledge grab (which could lead to fly exploits)
• Fixed some AI spawning issues in single player
• Fixed rare crash in single player
• Fixed an audio loop issue on the single player level "Semper Fi"
• Fixed an issue with the DLC store which could lead to players not being able to access the purchase history tab. Players can now access this tab, and from there download their DLC straight into their game and have it auto installed for them
• Fixed other cosmetic issues in the DLC store
• Fixed Light Shotgun attachment skill assessment not being levelled up
• Optimization to SSAO
• Further Anti cheat improvements
• Tweaked in-game audio dialogue (player taunts, announcements, etc) to be more diverse with more content for more events
• Mystery dog tags unlocked whilst not connected to a server will now remain unlocked
• Players that have rebooted will no longer be able to enter "New Recruits" servers

Balance Changes
• Balance changes to a variety of weapons, including:
• - JAW rocket speed and damage reduced
• - Under-barrel shotgun effectiveness reduced
• - Removed accuracy bonus for crouching with HMG
• - Increased K-Volt damage
• Balance changes to a variety of nanosuit modules, including:
• - Reduced the bonus that extended mags provides
• - Point fire enhance has improved effectiveness
• - Mobility Enhance has reduced effectiveness
• Balance change to Maximum Suit's armour: effectiveness has been slightly reduced
• Balance change to headshot damage from 1.8x to 1.5x

The update is not too far away and once we have a definite date set for release we'll be sure to let you know here! For the console players, if you're reading this, your patch notes are coming shortly and will be put up as soon as they are ready.

Thanks!
- MyCrysis Team
