***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

So what does that leave ATI with... NVIDIA better with OpenGL/Brink and Crysis/2, SLi better than CrossFire... so from what I've read the last few days.

Well sli isn't better than crossfire this gen for scaling or drivers and nvidia better dx11 performance not at all either. Both these issues resolved with the 6xxx series. Crysis 2 is an nvidia optimized game. Happens

AMD cards offer phenomenal pricing. My next card will be Nvidia though as I will have the money for one come my next upgrade.
Please don't devolve this into a fanboy fight between graphics companies.

Think your doing amd a massive injustice, I have more than enough cash for an nvidia card but find amd the better bet right now. Also who has the most powerful card out there, ah yes amd. Don't get me wrong I'm far from a fanboy but this idea that amd are budget cards annoys me immensely

Just goes to show, don't believe everything you read - especially on the interweb ;)

I don't, hence I said fluctuating but thats not the point. ;) Plus this isn't the thread for it or the other discussions I've read recently regarding series such and such as well as how their views seem to bounce about erratically from day to day.

Well with xfire 6850's @ 850 core im averaging 40-50 fps with the new dx11 patch maxed, it also seems to of solved all xfire issues i was having such as the strobing. I havent tried the high res texture patch yet though.

was not getting great performance last night at home on my 6970

did a steam backup and brought it into work today to try on my work pc as thats the same spec but with a 480.

Will be downloading the DX11 patch and playing it tonight. I've been waiting for this, never bothered with the console face to it. Now for the real game.

running at around 30-40 fps for me all settings ultra on 1680-1050 dx11 (only using 1 5870 atm) when vsynced the game seemed to double buffer (constant lock of either 30 or 20 fps) but d3doverrider seemed to fix this.

nerfy nerfs my fps maxed out 1200p without the hi-res textures on an unlocked 6950 and 2500k at 4.2ghz.

still, all fun and games innit?

setting objects from ultra to extreme gave me a pretty big performance increase of about 10 fps average, used to be about 30-40 now about 40-50. seems the melee bug is still there however, (i swear i read somewhere they fixed that) thats putting me off.

Is it just the addition of tessers when changing objects from ultra to extreme?

Hopefully someone will update the tweak tool so we can set everything individually. :)

Edit; the author is working on it.

http://wasdie.blogspot.com/2011/06/dx11-patch-advanced-graphics-options-18.html

I'll be updating it ASAP to include the new changes.

Also sounds like if you use his tool with the update you may not be getting the full ultra settings. That might explain why some are getting much better performance than others.

Average of about 15fps on my 5850 at 900/1200 lol. Ultra settings at 1920x1080.

Phenom x4 B50 @ 3.2ghz
4Gb 1333mhz DDR3 cas7
vista x64 ultimate

They have a pdf file up about the DX11 features.

"With Crysis 2 being our first multi-platform game, our main focus was to ensure a successful delivery on all supported platforms. Unfortunately, such constraint didn’t allow us to concentrate on DirectX 11 with the level of commitment that is to be expected from a Crytek release.

This is the reason why it was decided to give the R&D team sufficient time and effort after the release of Crysis 2. The “DX11 Ultra Upgrade” is the result of this work: it is a free visual upgrade add-on introducing DirectX 11 support, as well as a wealth of graphical improvements and performance optimizations for both DX11 and DX9 API’s."

Been away for a few days and haven't really been paying attention to Crysis 2. Steam just downloaded a 300mb patch, so i still need to dl the 2 texture packs from Mycrysis right?

as a graphics benchmark, this is more like it, 30fps average with a GTX 470 @800MHz @ 1920x1200

and it looks good as well

I don't have it either lol:p

It was a wise decision to wait until DX11 has come out;)

I am glad:D

I wish I did, I plaid full whack for the console port and although its no where as bad as people make out its no Crysis/Crysis War Head :(

I have no desire to play the DX11 any time soon, far too many other games that I havent played
