***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Apparently this is what the dx11 benchmark looks like, not sure how this guy got it to run since it was supposodly removed at the last minute.

I believe the hmmm hmmm version still had the benchmark in and with a little of tinkering you could get it to run on the final release.

Hmm indeed, Personally i think the benchmarks a bit pointlesss untill amd and nvidia get drivers optomised for it. Which is more than likely the reason it wasn't included yet.

I'm sorry but i think this has got to be the new graphics king:

I loaded up a part in Road Rage and was stunned at the difference. Fortunately i had previously taken a picture of the same place.

DX9

Now that is some difference!

The plumes of smoke in the background are immense and look even better in motion. Seriously go check it out in the game.

Also, best..floors..ever :p

Damn it I just finished Crysis 2 a week ago, may have to play though it again now. How does it run with DX11 by the way, it ran very smoothly for me maxed out in DX9 how does it compare in DX11?

Just downloaded the DX11 patch and the Hires texture pack - hope it doesn't rape my PC too hard :0

Only thing that looks a bit weird to me, is the 3D effect on the rocks.. they look like they're kinda "stretched upwards".. hard to describe... but apart from that, it looks sexy! :D

the graphics are very spectacular. as someone mentioned earlier somewhere on the forums, it seems that you get used to high res and textures/tessellation very quickly.
its nice when a game plays smoothly but i do feel that it is easy to forget how much detail is packed into games. especially action games like this.
for instance:
the save point I started at for my testing is a quiet moment in the game. i got a chance to chill out and wander round inspecting things basically being a tourist. "ooh look at those pretty textures and the detail in that..."
then the next minute I have 10 grunts and a tank kicking off at me so its a little difficult to appreciate the extra textures and things when you are knee deep in action.
I haven't played the witcher but have heard it is pretty. the screen shots i have seen leave me unconvinced if I am being honest.
but its not my type of game so i probably wouldn't ever play it.
I would have to say, crysis2 is easily the prettiest but most demanding game I have played, I cant see it being beaten in terms of system requirements any time soon.

Yup, same thing for me. I am really looking forward to getting this game for the graphics but I hope it's not to pacey to actually appreciate the graphics. I had the same problem with the later COD's (don't laugh!) awesome visuals but game play just to flat out to see most of them! I have to dip back into AC3 (don't laugh again!) to calm down a bit and go 'ahhh'. Crysis could well turn into the longest game I have played, and I am going to love it. :D

So far look s lovely but its only using about 60% of each 6950 for me, is this the same for anyone else? I remember it using a lot more pre DX11.

I'm getting full usage on my 5850s. Latest Cats and profiles.

This update is really, really good. Not only does it look fantastic, it seems to be very well optimized. With all of the DX11 extras, except for tessers, I get a better fps than I ever did with just the DX9 version. Tessers does seem to be the biggest FPS hit.

The only problem I have is that it now has the same bug that the other Crysis games had in DX10 where it always switches the refresh rate to 24hz when it starts. Does anyone know how to get around this? I think you used to be able to get around it with an ALT+F10 or something but I've forgotten now. :(

On my 480 it has gone from a constant 60+ to an average of 35-45 at 1080p.
It is worth it though, it really looks fantastic.

Still perfectly playable but if you are stickler for 60fps in everything ( which i tend to be) you will need to sli and crossfire to powerful cards.

I really want to see what it looks like now but I still have 9GB of Shogun 2 to download and Steam always pauses the downloads :/

Go into cc find the display properties and uncheck all apart from the 1920 x 1080 at 50hz

I had the same problem and it fixed this.

One of my earlier posts had the YouTube link I used to fix it. On my phone at the mo or I'd post it again.

Thanks, I'll use the search to find it.

The only trouble is, my display is a projector and I use 24hz for BDs so will I still be able to switch to that when I like with your settings?

It is good to see they did actually make the game to the high standard graphically as the previous Crysis, but for Me they should have fixed the Bugs before releasing high res packs !
Without doubt people enjoy a good looking game even if they have to back down the settings to get smooth game play. I can't begin to imagine how long it must take to make graphics to this standard !

Seems for most to hell with the game play.. give me pretty !, I bet Crytek wish they had not set that bar so high a few years back :D
