possible driver improvements for ati cards coming up?

it appears too much tesselation may be being applied.

"Kcuestag and myself have been working on Crysis 2 since we experienced low performance. We found that by setting objects to extreme, it fixes the issue, but that is not good enough. Kcustag told me that CCC might be forcing far more tesselation than what can be shown in the actual game, hence the lower fps. He tried forcing x8 in CCC under the tesselation setting but it did not work. I decided to try radeonPro as it's much more powerful at forcing settings.

x4 Tesselation, the performance is far higher without any fps drops/dips. The fps is still not right, but far more better. The game was completely smooth during my testing. Solid 35 fps or higher. The tesselation was not that brilliant at x4. It seems that x8 looked the same as crysis 2, so no further tesselation was needed, otherwise it will lower the fps without any visual enhancements what so ever. We believe AMD need to fix the tesselation. Either too much is being forced or the tesselation cores are not being used as they should for whatever reason"

fair enough.

interestingly im just doing the bit when the emp tries to go off and your in the tunnel.

for a couple of 2nds my fps drops to say high 20's and then it suddenly jumps back to 55+ and as soon a i move a few steps it does it again.

sound like a lot of hardrive activity going on. any suggestionas apart from a defrag andm get a ssd?

Am I the only one who got a performance boost from the update? I've got high res textures on and most settings on Ultra (including objects, which affects tesselation) and I'm getting better performance than I was before patching :p

I definitely think this patch has pushed this ahead of Crysis in terms of looks. It's jaw dropping

Looks like the tessers options in RadeonPro work well. If the FPS counter wasn't there I doubt you would be able to tell the difference between these two. One is application controlled and the other is with 16x Tessellation set in Radeon Pro.

Is it just me or is the FOV very small in this game?

so this is an Issue that ATI will address? also i noticed that in the thread they say exclusive to 6xxx series but im getting it with the 5xxx.

could lack of vram be whats affecting you?

tbh i dont know, perhaps the game is just a gpu killer but hopefully amd will be able to get some more fps for us.

Not sure if I should install the high res pack with my spec...cpu is at 3.4ghz if it makes any difference.

I play the game on very high settings, thoughts?

I can't even enable tessellation.

I can select ultra settings and enable high res textures, but dx11 selection is greyed out.

Although, the frame rates have been crippled even with just the above. I'm using a HD5850.

It does look amazing though.

I'm getting it as well on two 5870's. I'm also getting the bad motion blur at all motion settings, low/medium/high like when Crysis 2 was first released. It lagged when you turned sharply, the initial turn like as if you were waiting on something loading, after it did it was smooth the second time. Feels like when your mouse batteries are near dead or a bad surface.

Why is it when looking at stone work like bricks the fps don't dive but when you look at rocks with hardly anything else on screen it's 30 or just below. It feels horrible. Crysis never felt like this at 30fps. All the movement feels very magnetic rather than a slideshow.

Quick questions guys.
I own Crysis 2 on Steam and it has updated, and I've also downloaded and installed the 'high res textures' pack.

Do I also need to download the DX11 Ultra Upgrade as well from here, or is it included within the steam update? :

Looking forward to seeing how massively it affects it in 3D!
