***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

:(
The only downer I have about it is the ending... The pacing of the ending didn't seem to work for me. I won't spoil it, but the final "boss" of the game just wasn't big and epic enough compared to it's predecessor. It didn't feel like a game ending boss... So that was a bit disappointing.

Boss?! It was nothing like a Boss in any way shape or form, was just another set peice.

Just finished the game and while I enjoyed it to an extent the set peices sorry "tactical options available" areas were pretty damn samey. Sure you can attempt things in a few ways but still it wasn't great. 'Stealthed' straight through some sections with ease near the end just to finish the game off

Sadly for me in the end it felt a tad generic with some decent set peices placed throughout but not really enough to warrant another play through sadly. Played through on 2nd Highest Difficulty.

When the fabled DX11 patch hits I'll maybe check it out for the graphics test it will be but that's about the only reason for it. The graphics as they were were ok, bit cartoony in appearance imo and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much DOF in general, especially in the cut scenes haha!

Maybe I was expecting something slightly deeper/more open like the first and that was the problem. But to sum up I was completely underwhelmed by the experience which is a massive disappointment

Not saying all pirates are like this but this is exactly why so many pirate in the first place. If you pirate you get convenience, no DRM, no keys, and something thats yours. You dont have to jump through hoops to use something you just payed for. With some games you have to be constantly connected to the net to play them, and it's like you dont even actually own what you've payed for as theres so many limits. All of which are just an inconvenience to paying customers as every single game/DRM gets cracked and the companies know it will happen.
I fully support piracy when companies do this. The pirates are the smart ones in these cases and often have more morals than the fools who are paying to get ****** over by the biggest thiefs of all - companies like EA.

Would't the honourable thing to do in that situation be to buy then game AND pirate it? Because then you get the convenience of a DRM free release but you've still paid for it.

The bottom line with piracy is that if you don't pay, that company doesn't have your money to invest in their next game, and if enough peope don't pay, their next game suffers or they go out of business (like many good developers have).

Ontop of that you are encouraging them to ditch the PC as a platform, which is why Crysis 2 on PC is a cosole port, and why there are so few PC exclusives these days.

What's to say it doesn't keep going that way then causing hardware makers to not see the need/demand to make high end graphic cards?... slowly phasing it out over time.

i keep hearing it's like COD!

Do you mean that crappy shooter called COD Modern Warfare 3, if so that was a dreadful game.... timed missions and way too linear, it drove me crazy, this Crysis 2 seems to be getting worst the more threads that i read :D

surely it cant be as bad as COD

Got to say i enjoyed it more than any recent COD game. But was thoroughly underwhealmed by the whole thing, did not in anyway feel like a worthy succesor to crysis or warhead.

I was a little disappointed overall with this game.

Graphics wise, sure the textures are poo, but the overall feel of the cityscape is great I thought. One thing where this game excels above all others I thought was the lighting. Rather than everything being tinged with the brown filter this seemed to be bright and vibrant everywhere. Best lit game I have seen for a long time. Lack of destruction and massive lack of physics really seem a let down though. The maps seemed a little a dead unless something pre-scripted was going on. I felt they could have included a little more in the SP campaign. Grenades should have taken down the scaffolding/shop frontages, boxes should be able to blown apart etc. they missed a lot of opportunity here I think, the opposite end of the spectrum to say BC2 which is overkill.

Soundwise? Meh, all games seem to have great sounds these days. Voice acting seemed a reasonable for a game of this standard.

Gameplay? AI was appalling. The controls seemed standard fare for this sort of game, nothing revolutionary. The upgraded cloak seemed massively overpowered in the later levels, with being able to simply jog between checkpoints without challenge. Strange progression in game, where you fight hard to get though 1 building for a piece of story, then all of sudden you instantly traverse the whole city in a loading screen with no idea how you did it, seemed slightly jarring to me. Multiplayer? Nothing new there, but to be honest, is must be hard for the devs to think of new things to do here.

I agree with this, and I feel like I shouldnt have shelled out £30 for the game, but rather waited for it to come down in price.

Its a good looking game guys.....

I dont know why every ones complaining...

Some of the cut scenes are spectacular in graphics.

Ok so its a console port, but does it matter when the game looks good and is less taxing on systems, meaning more people can enjoy higher settings, on lesser hardware?

Contradict yourself much?

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! its not a bloody console port, for the love of Jesus H. on a rocket powered bicycle!!!! quit it for the love of god with the 'console port' rubbish.

Crysis II is a MULTI-PLATFORM GAME! can that be the end of the whole 'console port' crap for crying out loud! ;)

;) true...

Still not worth £30 tho, especially since I dont plan on trying out the mp.. which as I'v heard is ordinary?

your basically describing ALL multiplayer games, they are all the same thing and there isn't a point in pretending otherwise. the only difference in Crysis II is the suit spices up the gameplay a bit compared to things like Call of Duty, but in the end like all other games its the same thing. think of Crysis II online as Call of Duty had a love-child with Halo, Crysis II is the result.

Possibly. But as a retort, I would argue that COD4 and BFBC2 are not ordinary.

multi platform that was designed with console priority first

Thank god I cancelled my pre-order, maybe I'll buy it when its a tenner, which shouldn't be too long as all these negative comments are bound to hit sales.:p

The best way to describe the game, is its like your playing a Holywood blockbuster movie...

In that sense, it is very good. In some parts the graphics are stunning!

The gameplay however can be a bit flat at times, and the ai is horrendous.

Cry engine 3 and hence Crysis 2 unfortunatly for us, is more of a showpiece to other game developers, as it says "look what you could licence from us, to make your games with"

In this sense, its a bloody good thing. Games like Fall Out NV would have benifiting humungously from this engine. By god if people think this engine is shoddy, compare it to the unfit for release Fall Out NV engine.

Also the COD series, should serioulsy look towards this engine. This is where they need to be. It plays just as well as any COD engine so gamplay mechanics wont be effected, but its about 10years ahead in visuals!

Even the new Skyrim game could look great using this engine!

Well for my £21 pre-order which I finally got around to installing last night, I was pretty happy. Granted I might not have been so happy with £30 but I can still remember the heady days of every game costing £17-20 before they suddenly sky-rocketed in price.

So far I don't feel it is the unworthy sequel that so many bill it as but like so many games these days, it is horses for courses. a lot of screaming about textures which seems a bit weird considering it is supposed to be a fast paced game; what is the need to stand and look at textures on a wall that merely slow the game down? One texture I have noticed that I think is somewhat lacking and that is the smoke in game. That is noticeable because it is a moving texture and does indeed look shoddy.
