PTS bored me. Essentially what we have spent time farming for the past several months is wasted for yet another grind to get better loot which leads to no end game reward. It's like this game is on a spin cycle 30 degree wash and is on rinse and repeat.
We just need more content tbh and 1.4 is what the game should have been on release. DZ is still a numbers and luck game.
Solo players are under an illusion if they can think they can farm it. Yeh you probably got lucky getting an empty server during unsociable hours but chances are teams will wipe you and steal any loot you spent the last half an hour collecting.
When people are geared to the teeth again DZ will be how the game is in it's present state. During the beta I remembered people were generally collaborative and farming together. I just hope DZ gets a shake up also and Massive look beyond PVP being the end game experience.
Considering the amount you have played, you should know that any new content needs to be implemented on a working platform which 1.3 isn't.
1.3 IS working. It does not cater for solo pve players and the gameplay isn't dynamic enough which 1.4 has fixed.
Who cares if an update is boring, if it fixes underlying issues then its good.
What are the underlying issues then?
You also know that PVP is next on their agenda and once again, why would they fix PVP specifically on top of a broken core experience, when their PVE content is even more broken for the vast majority of their player base.
Who are the vast majority of their playerbase?
Sure have they fixed 8/12/16 man groups or checkpoint glitching? No, but was it in their scope for this update? No it wasn't, so complaining about it is a waste of time.
Considering that endgame is PVP seems a bit dumb that they have neglected the issues with DZ. All they have done is recreate a more balanced experience akin to the beta which after everyone is geared leads to the same rinse and repeat cycle.
Solo farming is 100% possible outside of the darkzone. Named world bosses, HVT's(daily and weekly), Missions on varying difficulty, UG and so on so they never need to go into the darkzone.
Glad you said solo, as I said earlier 1.4 makes the gameplay experience enjoyable for solo players.
This was also Massive mission and they have succeeded in this IMO as I got some good loot in the UG - solo! Besides, that is the darkzone, it is meant to be like that but their bracketing is still balls lol
There is that word again - solo.
I went into this update sceptical, I thought it would be boring but as soon as I killed my first NPC, my top 1% goggles got lifted and I saw the game for what they intend it to be - fun with a bit of a challenge at the same. I mean look at the comments above, people who haven't played this game gave it a shot and found it fun! Snaggle - when was the last time you saw him? Ed same story.
Don't know who snaggle is, is he a competitive player? Because the clan mates who I played with moved on ages ago and started playing overwatch instead. I understand that there is a grinding element to the game but end game content has been pretty poor so far.
I am already rank 32 in the DZ I think, I spent a lot of time there but only because it was fun in the lowest DZ bracket - PVE is just as fun and is also a challenge.
Wait until people are geared up and we shall see how DZ changes. The meta will shift and people will just run firecrest and predators.
Try and level yourself to GS229, without a group, you will come into challenges, probably need to go down a WT level as well at some point until you min max or at least optimise the gear for that level.
I tried to go as far as I could solo but ended up dropping down a WT once to try and get gear with more armour, and then I went up again.
This was a sentiment echoed to NowGamer by creative director Magnus Jansen, who claimed that while you can play it solo it isn’t recommended. https://www.nowgamer.com/6-reasons-why-vr-wont-take-off/
I mean what would you rather have? The current game where you spend most of your time hiding in smart cover and farming 4hm forever with a minimal playerbase, or a game that allows you to move around, be more tactical but also feel more powerful?
In a loot driven game it doesn't matter how you get loot, whether you stand stationary in a cover or run around like headless chickens. As long as you get the reward that is all that matters. The content is what needs to be there, to promote dynamic gameplay as well as what they have achieved in 1.4. A horde mode waved based map like falcon lost can never be fun or challenging.
I know which one I want now, and I am sure plans are in the works for more difficult content at some point as well.
EDIT: I have put SO much time into my gear, so much farming and all my stuff is wasted as well now, but I would rather have a massive playerbase and farm again than stick with a broken game.
PTS changed my opinion on everything but the road to min max is quite fun and I think 1.4 will make it a bit less tedious
See Inline
Everything in this game can be solo'd now
as they said in the SoTG special report, only the minority (i.e. the top 1% of max optimised chars) will be able to solo everything.
would have more useful to quote my whole point which basically agrees with that lol
Everything in this game can be solo'd now....I think. I still don't know about heroic but im starting to think that that might not be soloable.
Exception being DN - damn buttons!
yeah sorry wasnt disagreeing with you btw![]()
Did you get the pts btw to test?
