Played with tony the other night and it was ok (nice to be just playing the game again) but as predicted and once again, there is just no variety in this game/dlc..... :(
 
I'm going through the motions but getting nothing from it.

It's quite....repetitive imo. Just doesn't seem to be a great deal of variation and is quite lazy of the devs. could have been so so good!! Got to lvl 45 with a couple of guys last night and it just seemed more of the same over and over, albeit a bit harder.
 
This patch seems to have changed the game for the better, I ran some UG last night just for testing mainly and the randoms I got put in with we're all friendly on the mics and we had a good laugh running through.

Out of touch with the gearing but OCUK discord comes to the rescue again.
 
New content is more of the same old meh. It' the world that always brings me back to this game not the content sadly.

With the Battle Royale craze at moment, is this not the perfect world for a battle Royale type game mode in the survival setting :)
 
3 phase, 5 directive challenge mode UG done last night. Had 5 hunters spawn lol Was epic.

Think UG could be an efficient farm - 5 phase CM with no directives for XP and hunter spawns. No lag in PVE which is nice, PVP on the other hand....mess as always lol
 
So new content is not something fantastic in the end? I played about 60 hours last year and was itching to come back.

If you played last year SOOOO much has changed since then. The comments are from people who have played every patch up till now.

Give it a bash, there are some good things in the game now, its how it should have launched tbh.
 
I played up until level 10 when the game came out and just found it dull, it looks like it's changed a lot since then so may try the free weekend and give it another shot!

Played a 1 phase earlier and had 2 Hunters spawn on me after the first little section!!! They're irritating little buggers the way they pop a heal just when you've got them down to a sliver :D

I had one last night where some guy on our team was totally rambo (I'm guessing inexperienced player as he started being more cautious towards the end) - first room ran headlong at the enemy and a hunter came out of nowhere and put him on his arse - had to be there really it was too funny to watch. Had no problem taking it down though was using an experimental high damage LMG build and it went down ridiculously easy from a long burst.
 
The new area looks great, some really nice and fresh areas, but nothing to do other than a few mobile phones to collect and some 'kill supply drone' quests. A complete waste of a nice new area. Unless I'm missing something? The drone quests are quite hard (fun) once the mobs begin to spawn.
I really wanted more story and more missions to complete.

Same as a lot of the main game - vast areas of untapped potential that in most cases pretty much everything is there for so it would only take someone like an hour to setup scripts, etc. for it and a bit of play testing (assuming they aren't daft and hard coded everything mission wise hah).
 
How's the game?

last time I played there was some paid for updates, have these been released for free or is there still a massive gap between free players and paid add-ons?
 
I feel the dynamic spawning in the new area needs tweaking, enemies popping up behind you in combat from nowhere is stupid, it's not that its hard to kill them just an unrealistic annoyance. I cant even take a breather and just admire the scenery without mobs coming out of nowhere all of sudden.
 
Its ridiculous that they haven't addressed things like the inventory system and its limits and spend so much time in 1.8 on things people don't want and aren't interested in. The mob spawning apparently was heavily brought up in the PTS but ignored - lots of complaints about it on the official forums.

Sadly I had a more positive impression when I first got into the game that turned out to be a bit of an illusion - developers like this are why I'm increasingly less and less buying any games and spending less and less time gaming of late :(
 
The inventory system and the way your gear just keeps moving round when you'e t to sell stuff and how difficult it is at times to compare your gear frustrate immensely. A great game surrounded by minor frustrations.
 
The game is absolutely brilliant when levelling up to 30 but after that, it just becomes very meh, well, play for about another 100 hours on top after hitting 30 then the meh stage will start to kick in.
