Weirdly i fired up The Division this morning, the first time in months, basically the last time i played seriously was when they introduced the new set items. I noticed that the gameplay just did not feel smooth on my 4770k and 1070, frames were decently high on the settings i use and it sits around 100fps average with almost no visual impact. But every so often it would spike down to around 45fps for a sec and then back up to over 100fps. I am running the latest Nvidia drivers, and i have the game set to DX12, i tried it in DX11 and actually got lower fps, so went back to DX12. I need to really give it a try to see if its something i can remedy, has anyone else experienced similar? is it an Nvidia driver issue? or is it something thats been introduced with a Division Patch? it used to be seemless for me, admittedly since i bought my 1070 i have hardly played the Division, and it was buttery smooth on my 290 as i have a Freesync screen, am i just noticing the spikes now due to no freesync?
On another note, whats the best way to get back into the game? i fired it up this morning, whacked it on WT5 and got the supply drop, and killed a world boss, should i go hoover up the rest of the world bosses? im using 4 piece Alphabridge but this is the old 229 stuff, i dont really do the PVP stuff / Dark Zone etc, im mainly a PVE player, but i will venture into the DZ if i have a group to run with.
Is there a go to PVE setup now? anything in particular i should be on the look out for? I liked Alphabridge with 2 x AR as they had decent range and stopping power, plus you could carry a bucketload of ammo for them.
The LZ Boss run is quite rewarding, if you run the entire circuit and take out any trash mobs you come across along the way, you should end up with about 50 items. A lot of this will be purple or blue gear - still good to pickup and sell. On average, I end up with 5 x 256 weapons, 2 x 256 pistols, 12 x 256 High End armour pieces and 8 x 256 Set pieces, the rest being blue or purple to sell.
The daily High Value Targets are also quick and easy to get loot, and even chasing the Intel to be able to run a HVT mission gives reasonable rewards.
AB is still viable for PvE, note it has had a bit of a nerf in that you can only use the third talent on your second weapon (so 4 talents in total) but the tradeoff is that the stat requirements are waived (so for example if you need 3832 electronics for the Ferocious talent, with an AB build you don't). Most sets are viable for PvE, I personally run an AB, a Striker and a Lone-Star in terms of sets. The all High End build is also viable, particularly if you can pick up some Exotic Skulls MC gloves (and you will get some Skulls gloves from the LZ bosses at some point). An all electronics build, especially with a Tacticians set is also viable now, although you have to drop a lot into electronics.
I roll as much Health, Enemy Armour Damage (EAD) and Damage to Elites (DtoE) as I can. If you want to go more glass-cannon, don't worry about the extra health and roll EAD. DtoE is now a minor stat.
ARs are still good and I use them on all my builds, I like the extra EAD since I roll health where I can instead of EAD. Most of them are good, the Lightweight M4's and LVOACs tend to be popular but I have a some good G36s and my main build runs a Custom P416 G3. The AK-47/74s and SCAR-L, while having higher per-bullet damage suffer from lower RPM compared to the others. Note that SMGs have received their crit chance back and may also be viable, depends on what you like and how you want to play. You obviously have to be a lot closer with the SMGs or shotguns. On the long range side, the once "king" of sniper rifles, the M1a has been nerfed out of usefulness, so there are a few options. The SVD fires fast and is accurate but low bullet damage, the SRS and M44s are bolt action but hit harder while the SCAR-H is a good option. However, I think the M700s are the best option, especially if you can pick up a carbon or a tactical.
Cheers,
