The easyrider shuffle- Many of you have failed....

TNA you're not allowed to buy a 3080 it MUST be 3070.
Lol. I really should be, had they released a 16gb version from the get go for £499 I most certainly would have. But when you look at the big gap between the 3070 and 3080 in specs, you think it’s worth paying the £180 extra.

I mean, £180 between the 3070 and 3080 gets you a much bigger performance leap than the extra £750 going from 3080 to 3090 does :p

Why didn’t you see this coming?

Some of you did, but some of you ,with names I respect, are scrambling about trying to shift your 1080ti, 2080s and 2080ti cards like school kids chasing a football ! :D

:D

You all know about the easyrider shuffle! :p

Have to ask if you really should be buying high end if you have to rely on resale?

Why must one rely on it to do it? I certainly don’t. Can go buy quad SLI 3090 cash. Does not mean I will. What I will do is sell my 3080 as soon as I get wind of the 40 series being imminent and add a little on top and buy a new card. Makes financial sense to me.

I don’t have to rely on resale...just because I’m mindful of what tech to buy and recoup costs , does that suddenly mean I don’t qualify for buying high end?

I could buy 2 x 3090 if I wanted and pay for them in cash I don’t see your point?

Indeed, The easy shuffle is so easy and yet people still don’t get it ! :p

I like the Yadda false shuffle better:

Take the card out of the PC and put it on one side.
Make a cup of tea.
Blow the dust off the card and put it back in.

It's saved me a fortune over the years. :p

Agreed that the £150 extra this time gets you lots more performance not like the idiots that bought a 2080S over a 2070S...:D (me)

Even better

Take 2080ti Card out the PC and list it on Ebay

Put an old card back in PC and play all the old games you bought in the steam sales you never played..

:D

Reminds me of the old joke about the fella who used to save money by running behind the bus to work every morning until his mate suggested he'd save even more if he ran behind a taxi instead.

Surely, depreciation only matters if you sell the previous card??
Since 2011, I've had a pair of 580GTX Phantoms, an EVGA 2080Ti and a Sapphire Nitro+ 590.

Gave one of the 580GTX to my old man and recently sold the other (as part of a well priced 2500k bundle), but have the rest.

As and when I decide I "need" to upgrade, I'll put the 2080Ti in my son's rig, give the old man his RX590 and probably donate the GTX580 to a local building a "vintage" project.

I struggle to understand the mentality of those throwing cash away, chasing benchmark numbers on a monthly basis for next to no real world gain.

Until 4k, 144+Hz screens become mainstream, or even 8k/Decent resolution VR units are affordable, then surely the 30xx series and Big Navi hits the pinnacle?

And how someone enters the latest gen, or how much it cost them to do so, is no one else's concern.

TL;DR
I once PX'd a Porsche Cayman for a Ford Galaxy... so what!?

I just checked my 2080ti was bought on Oct 19 so really should have sold it but theres no proof its worth doing really. In the games i stuggle i get 144min, I need 280 another 30% i wont bother as i give my buyers the warranty so it could be a headache if he breaks it and annoys me.

I might have to make him pay to send it to me, I send to Zotac and he pays postage 4 ways but ill do his warranty. Why not show a full suite of info and let me sell mine for 800, I would only be down 100 quid for 1 yrs usage.

But there is WOT marathon on now too and a cheap card will not cut it at 4k 144hz so i will see once NDA lifts if i will sell up. I could still Demand £450 and add £300 again. I could be the 300 quid upgrade guy. :D Im more than happy to go to 1080 to 2080ti and then to a 3080 each time for £300. :D

Can we talk about the profit shuffle?

It involves buying up cheap stuff on the ocuk members market then selling it elsewhere for a profit.

I wonder how long before the perpetrator reports my post? Doesn't want anyone knowing the truth.

Interesting how times change.

I have never forgotten all the negative comments about me paying £830 for the original Titans.

Now people are queuing up to spend a lot more on the Ampere cards.

Hardly if I remember correctly the last card OP bought was end of life. He hardly had anything to hand over on launch day and waited until the card was dead before buying it and even then he begged gibbo for a discount.

Again the numbers of people lining up to buy is a small amount compared to the masses. Which is why the masses will ridicule those that do spend so much.

I'll never pay more than £500 for a gpu. I'll never buy a second hand gpu again either because that market was ruined 3 years ago thanks to the mining boom. Unless of course things change drastically.

I'll buy bang for buck rather than the absolute best which is only a bit faster yet costs 4 times as much.
