The easyrider shuffle- Many of you have failed....

Interesting how times change.

I have never forgotten all the negative comments about me paying £830 for the original Titans.

Now people are queuing up to spend a lot more on the Ampere cards.
All your fault! You and that Gregster!

:p:D

Hardly if I remember correctly the last card OP bought was end of life. He hardly had anything to hand over on launch day and waited until the card was dead before buying it and even then he begged gibbo for a discount.

Again the numbers of people lining up to buy is a small amount compared to the masses. Which is why the masses will ridicule those that do spend so much.

I'll never pay more than £500 for a gpu. I'll never buy a second hand gpu again either because that market was ruined 3 years ago thanks to the mining boom. Unless of course things change drastically.

I'll buy bang for buck rather than the absolute best which is only a bit faster yet costs 4 times as much.

My previous comment had nothing to do with the OP, it is a comment on the state of the GPU market and how peoples attitudes have changed.

My personal view is it is ludicrous that the top mainstream GPU available should cost more than £700.

Having said that because I have very few commitments in life I can and will spend more on a GPU but this does not make the pricing right.

I have a very long memory and in years to come when there are other options available I will never never never forget the ridiculous pricing NVidia are charging at the moment.

They haven't changed at all. I used the op as an example.

I have a mate who earns above the average UK wage. Lives at home with his parents. Yet he never bought a 20 series and is taking precaution and waiting to see what happens but he was looking at the 3080. I have told him to wait for amd to make their move and wait for a refresh otherwise he will regret it as the refresh will be the one to get. He's currently rocking a Asus Rog strixx 1080ti he paid like £1200 for. He's learned his lesson from that. Even though he's living at home and earning good money.

My views have not changed on the titan back then or any other stupidly priced cards. My problem these days is i still love to game and now at 4k i am pretty much forced to pay what i consider daft prices. Even with that in mind i am only going up to £700 max but preferably less. Hoping AMD have something to match the 3080 and costs less for a decent model. That should see me pretty good at 4k especially compared to my Vega 64 which has done a decent job for me.

That's the main reason why if anyone asks me for advice on a gaming pc in real life I tell them straight up that you can get a really good 1080p full set up for £600-£1000.

1440p add another £500-£600 on.

4K then add another £1k on top of the 1440p price.

It's why I'd never buy a 4k monitor currently

Why didn’t you see this coming?

Some of you did, but some of you ,with names I respect, are scrambling about trying to shift your 1080ti, 2080s and 2080ti cards like school kids chasing a football ! :D

:D

You all know about the easyrider shuffle! :p

i'm not :p. Break my heart to sell it for £300. My 2080Ti if it gets upgraded will be a spare collecting dust on my shelf XD

Yea pretty decent advice, my thinking was i don't upgrade Monitor much so i went 4k for a bit of future proofing. I also thought i wouldn't mind dropping to 1440p when needed but after seeing 4k its hard for me to drop image quality now so just drop as many settings down that i think serve no use.

My current 1440p monitor is also 165hz. I also mainly play csgo online and other FPS like apex legends and valorant.

So resolution isn't a huge deal to me. I'd actually like to go down to 1080p 27" and 240hz to see if it makes any difference. My current screen is too big for FPS at 32".

Ive tried it and the 240hz from 165hz very minimal unless you need the speed smoothness wise it feels the same.

1080p-1440 is a different story though.

I have a 32” 1440 and really like it. I found 27” just a bit too small and I have my 32” far enough it hasn’t made any difference to me playing fps games if not slightly better.

Just patiently waiting for a 32” 165hz 4k screen now :p

Wha? Didn't you throw the better part of 8 grand at the turing cards? 2 evga 2080 ti's that were around 1500 each and 2 titans for 2500 each? Yet you're talking about prices being ludicrous? Seems you were happy enough to throw that money at them as "ludicrous\ridiculous" as they were.

And before anyone chirps in with the "it's his money" routine, i know that, just find it weird to be throwing that sort of money around then complaining about the pricing.

Wow its been too long since I heard that. Glad to report I've done the shuffle. My 1080ti is gone ready for a new era

Looking through this thread it seems some people didnt get the shuffle sentiment. The shuffle goes back to the very early days. Newer members won't understand. The forum was much quieter apart from easy and cyber mav and loadsa etc

I prefer the nbk flex though. Maximising my 1080ti for the last 3 years dodging a soggy turing biscuit and getting max value from pascal.

The shuffle in the ops case is pointless to save what £100. He hasn't had a gaming gpu in a year to save £100.

So whilst he's been sitting at home unable to game he managed to save himself a whopping £100.

Is that really a job well done?

He sold his 1080ti in 2019. It's now September 2020 with no new card still in his rig.

Sounds to me he dun goofed.

I've been enjoying playing my games maxxed out whilst in lockdown. Do I care I've lost £100 on my gpu. I think I'll live.

You're right he should have done the flex

Back when you were testing Ati drivers on the 2900xt. Forum was definitely a better place back then but i think that's mainly because Graphics tech was moving much faster so there was a lot more to talk about.

What a time it was and what a memory you have. I defended the 2900XT to the death :D

Was amazing to be part of a small worldwide group beta testing drivers. Unheard of these days. Simpler times :(
