The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I can't believe how long I've resisted reading this thread :)

I want that feeling of discovering something so epic and fantastic when I first play the game, I don't want to know anything about it!

Saying that I've seen the dragon video :p

.....

See this fire?

I'm just concerned that the enemies will level up with you, destroying any feeling of progression, it completely ruined Oblivion.

I want enemies wondering around from the start of the game that are hugely overpowered and must be avoided. I don't want the developer to hold my hand. I'm too worried of spoilers to look this up, but if this is the case I might cancel my pre order and play Baldur's Gate 2... Again.

Very true, the leveling was a bit frustrating but mods did come out to remedy this. A lot of people felt the same so it was created very quickly :)

I just found this:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Leveling

Various aspects of the game are leveled. This means that as your character increases in level, some enemies become more challenging but also the quality of the items you find becomes better. However, the leveling system in Skyrim has been altered from that used in Oblivion, in response to criticisms of Oblivion's leveling system.

Different locations in Skyrim have different inherent difficulties. In other words, some dungeons are designed to be too difficult for low-level characters to enter. More challenging dungeons are generally located at higher elevations, meaning that early in the game players may want to avoid mountainous regions. However, more difficult dungeons contain better rewards. In addition, some high-quality items can be randomly found even early in the game.

The level of a given dungeon is fixed the first time you enter it. Therefore, places that you enter early in the game will always contain relatively weak enemies, even if you return to the same dungeon at the end of the game.

BG2 + Expansions is one of the greatest RPGs of all time. And it had a great manual :D

So does this mean the loot tables will be reduced too?

I guess this means you will need to avoid the majority of dungeons until you are sufficiently levelled at risk or gimping your end game?

Does anyone know the scaling yet and does it cap out at level 25-35 for items and questables like Oblivion.

That sounds rubbish - go into a dungeon at level 1, and it stays at level 1 for the whole game, seriously???

I'd rather that there there be a fixed number of high level dungeons that give out fixed loot that is hard to get.

I suppose gear doesnt matter in TES since Enchanting makes you the best stuff you can get.

What I'd like to know is if you clear a cave/dungeon. Leave, and then revisit it later, do the enemies respawn?
In Oblivion they re-appeard and it drove me nuts, no satisfaction in killing the enemies. Then Fallout 3, no respawning, all good.. Hopefully the same for Skyrim.
