The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

That sounds rubbish - go into a dungeon at level 1, and it stays at level 1 for the whole game, seriously???

I'd rather that there there be a fixed number of high level dungeons that give out fixed loot that is hard to get.

I suppose gear doesnt matter in TES since Enchanting makes you the best stuff you can get.

Does your level in enchanting and player level override the item level. Say you are maxed out in enchanting, level 30 and enchant some basic iron knife, will it end up as a level 30 equivalent weapon?

I guess its designed to allow you to set the pace of your own game. You can visit a few dungeons early on or save them all up for later on in the game.

And yeah, the better loot is from smithing/enchanting/etc so should be fairly unique to your game :).

And btw I know the game is activated through steam...can you still install from the DVD (I'm presuming yes but you never know!) so that I'm not forced to dl all the content through Steam?

I would imagine each dungeon/cave has it's own level range, eg 12-20. So if you go in at level 8 you're going to get mullered and the dungeon will fix at lvl 12. If you go in at level 30, it's going to fix at 20.

As far as I can gather there are areas which are designated high level, and areas for medium & low, wander into the wrong bit and you're going to get broken regardless.

This is just a response to pretty much nowhere being fixed level in Oblivion, the common complaint was bandits in glass armour etc, this sounds like a reasonable middle ground given that levelling is supposedly a little faster, giving the player a bit more power early doors.

With rage I did this, installed from disc but added the code to steam. Worked perfectly fine because it was all integrated (steamworks game). Should be the same for skyrim as it is also steamworks.

I wonder how long it will take to get to a stage in the game where you have plenty of money, houses, skilled up, and decent gear?

In Oblivion this was circa 30-50ish hours when balance levelling and ignoring the main story line.

You could easily level to 25 in a few of hours if you weren't worried about balancing your character though. Then it was simply a case of running the easy humanoid dungeons for daedric level armour to sell and doing the trial for Goldbrand.

Cool beans. Expected that would be the case but just checking!

Argh !!!!! Been following this thread while talking myself out of buying Skyrim , couldn't control myself , pre-ordered this afternoon !

Curse you all !! :)

If anyone has ordered from game, ring them up and ask when it will be delivered.

Someone on the Bethesda forums was told it wont be posted until monday 14th.

Wonder when the first reviews are available online, anyone see one yet?
I loved it in the opening gameplay of Oblivion Elder Scrolls, Patrick Stewart narrated the part of an Emporor as you battled your way out of a dungeon.
Can anyone confirm if Matthew Perry (Friends) plays a part - big Fallout 3 fan. sorry to be a name dropper!
