The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

That would be a serious joke if Skyrim has save corruption. Minor bugs I can tolerate in a game like this, but losing my first character and game progress is just the worst thing that could happen.

Many games have saves that corrupt these days - I make sure I regularly back up all of my active gamesaves :)

Game have just taken the money from my account on the pre-order.

A bit early to do that seeing as it's not out for a week. Might shoot them an email.

I got this email concerning the collector's edition about a week ago, they just took my money too.

Due to the epic size of Skyrim we have a lot to do to make sure it gets to you
in time for launch day. As a result, we will be processing your order and charging your
payment card a little earlier than usual.

If your payment has been processed successfully you will receive an email letting you know that
your order is on its way. It will not reach you early, this just means its being held ready
for delivery on launch day.

Please note all courier tracking numbers will not be active until the evening prior to
the release date.

If there is a problem with your order you may receive an email informing you that your
order has been cancelled.
This could be due to a problem with your payment method. If your order has been
cancelled please check your payment details are correct and place a new order [link removed]

Thought that was decent customer service to be fair, unprompted informative email!

But Game delivered my copy of Dragon Age Origins a day late, and their CS over the phone was atrocious :x

I always look elsewhere first now.

I'm going to cancel my preorder and buy on steam. Its only £5 more, I get it preloaded, and guaranteed that when I wake up on my day off on Friday I can unlock it, put on a pot of coffee, and play. All. Day :D.

Video footage of Skyrim in case no one has seen it or any streams.

Side note:

The graphics are amazing, and seem to be running at a high frame rate. How is it that the 360/PS3 can pull of this amazing quality, whilst I expect my better hardware PC will struggle :P Is the engine the game is using that good?

Edit: Another side note:

I really hope they have proper expansions and not bought DLC. Cheap DLC is usually just a mod, and players can make better mods.

It's pretty rubbish though really, they aren't doing anything special, you aren't gonna get it early.

What's rubbish about it? Letting the customer know what's going on? No nothing special, not getting it early no, I wouldn't even be around to take delivery if they did so I hope it isn't!

Just decent customer service

I want my premium map though :(

And it was only £24.99 with the Tesco voucher.

Actually you are wrong here, game and most other online stores post their games at least 2 days before the release date. With my example of DAO above, what happened was that Game alread packaged and posted the copies a few days before release, but instructed the couriers not to deliver them until release day. Due to courier failure, I got it a day late.

As far as I know, no other E tailers instruct their couriers to delay the postage until the release day, so as long as they say it will be delivered by release day and contains all the pre order goodies, I buy.

Not true. I've often had arrive games up to two or three days early from them.

Regardless you won't be playing it any earlier than anyone else when Steamworks titles are concerned, you won't be any later either though.

One thing I'm worried about is that a lot of stores in the US (well, gamestop ones, but many of them), have overbooked pre orders, and wont be receiving enough copies to fill them all.

......

If that happens to me from Tesco, I activate my key, whinge and whine about not getting my pre order bonus / game on time, and send it back for a refund

I already sent them an email asking to confirm that I will get a pre order bonus map as I thought I placed my pre order too late.

What are you on about a code? The only extra you get from a pre order will be a cloth map.

Some good videos of the game, thanks. Had to laugh at the guy getting his horse killed over, and over again lol.

Erm, I meant activate the game code on steam, and send it back if it isnt what I ordered. In the case of the Pre order supply running out that is.

That's not decent customer service. Sending a mass email to everyone who bought product 'x'.

As long as my order arrives on time, or at least arrives (concerning GAME) I dont care about an email telling me they're billing me a week before release.

Try contacting them when you have a problem.
Twice now I have pre-ordered from GAME only for them to email me on release that they have cancelled my pre-order. I then contact them to ask why and they don't respond or even apologise.

So my CE Edition has been despatched!

Really? Where from

That's not decent customer service. Sending a mass email to everyone who bought product 'x'. .

Exactly. When I rang them up about my late delivery, they were completely unapologetic, refused to accept any fault, and stated very clearly that they were actually not allowed to send pre ordered games out early .

If you actually ring and speak to Game customer service, they are terrible. If on the other hand you speak to Asda or Tesco, you get the best possible customer service you can for a retailer.
