The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

No, it will be a different game. Believe it or not, you are not the final arbiter of what makes a game good: it's not good because you like it or bad because you don't. Mods don't improve games, they change them. For every person who likes what a mod does, a person (or more usually, several), does not.

Ok, find me one person that didnt prefer playing Oblivion with Quarls Texture Pack 3. 4096x4096 texture lod replacements, and Natural Environments 2.1.

Oh right, no one, wait, maybe the people that have no clue what those mods are or what they do :D

After installing just those 3 mods, the vanilla game becomes completely unplayable.

Then there was also natural faces, better boddies, loot scaling and enemy scaling fixes to stop every single enemy being the same level as you and carrying daedric armor, and countless numbers of custom weapons, armors and clothes.

After you fully pimp out an ES game with community made mods, the vanilla version looks like a complete joke in comparison. Funny how people sat at home with a load of free time can make these games vastly better than the state that Bethesda release them in.

Be interesting to see how they can mod this game to look any better. Sure with oblivion and morrowind there were massive differences. But skyrim it just looks stunning already.

Oblivion looked fairly stunning when it was first being shown off way back in 2005. No doubt graphical mods will be the order for this in a few years time as well.

Oblivion looked stunning too from the pre release videos and screenshots dont forget :)

They would mod Skyrim the same way, higher resolution textures, better weather and lighing effects, graphics extendor mods etc.

By the way, apparantly Skyrim isnt even using DX11, and the preview vid was done on an Xbox 360, so I read on the official forums.

Very good points it did look great back then.

Kind of agree, oblivion is bad for me now unless I heavily mod it.

No that would be the definition of a full conversion mod. Mods improve the game, full conversions change them. There are enough mods out there that everyone will like something. Unless you genuinly think the game is absolutely perfect and could not be improved in any way, shape or form... though if thats the case i'd say you lack the capacity for rational thought.

So you genuinely believe any mod improves the game? Any mod? Because that would be what you are implying by that. You are saying that the game is so bad that any change to it improves it. That a mod which made all characters walk in slow motion (it can be done BTW) would de facto be an improvement?

And for those of us who speak English, "full conversion mod" means "to change every aspect of a game". I'll agree that it still doesn't mean "improve" though. And did you get a little thrill there out of the sly dig?

Just watched the trailer, and my god this game has got me excited.

I loved all Elder Scrolls games, they all have there ups and downs, but my god that trailer......:D

Wow! Third time watching the trailer and i just noticed i'm pretty sure there using tessellation on the dragons. Lets hope they use it on more then just them.

Even if they dont, it shows the engine can handle it and the modders will add it at a later date.
