The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

*shrug* looks basically like what was expected graphics wise which is pretty much all it showed other than minor snipits of gameplay. Loads of things very similar looking to Oblivion just with better textures.

Not really possible to showcase the list of things that look very dodgy about the game in writing. At least not without an actual gameplay trailer. Wonder how the Dragons play out. Will they actually be formidible enemies or not...

I do wonder what some of you expect from games sometimes :p
Looks great from where I'm sitting :)

It looks like a typical 'look at my pretty graphics with rapid transitions between gameplay footage' trailer. Given how much information has been released that sounds dodgy i couldn't really care how good it looks just yet.

Looks pretty damn awesome! BUT we all know looks aren't everything! Let's hope the actual gameplay works out in a demo or sommat in the summer.

The old rpg games where you had to actually ROLE play and choose to be something at the cost of other skills is meaningless when you just end up the master of everything.

On this rare occasion i agree with you but people (kids?) dont want this. They want their character to be the best at everything hence you get classes like Arcane Warrior(in DA:O)...a mage with armour..why bother with different classes and roles when you can just go the "uber" class ehhh.

Why is a mage with armour out of the oridinary? Oblivion had its 'spellswords' sorta thing, just they were a bit screwed over by the spell effectiveness and bethesda's half arsed calculations meaning everything was rounded down.

Arcane Warrior was just very badly done.

Proper game play reveal trailer for a change, I hate the crap like the Battlefield 3 one which shows pretty much nothing.

This looks damn good, can't wait :)

looks great. cities look much bigger and far more interesting which is one thing i felt oblivion needed improving on. also noticed all 3rd person shoots had the character to the side of the screen.

Did we watch the same trailer? There was jack **** gameplay footage, most of it was a quick second or two before it snapped to something else, it didn't show ANYTHING substantial, certainly not enough to judge it. Brief glimpses of the bow, brief glimpses of the 'dual wield' system but nothing to go on. And most of the footage was of the wilderness or the dragon. What they showed of the cities did look good but i saw nothing to suggest they were bigger or more interesting than Oblivion.

I thought it looked pretty decent graphics wise, animations looked better and the characters didn't seem so ugly as in Morrowind and Oblivion. Hopefully they've taken onboard the criticism about the voice acting, especially the part where an NPC switched voice actors depending on which line they said. That drove me nuts.

Hopefully it's moddable, just finally got round to playing Oblivion (could never quite get into it before) and it's night and day when modded.

I dunno if they've sorted that out, but i think the main change they're shouting from the rooftops is that NPCs don't stand and stare you in the face and do nothing else while talking. They'll continue to do things. I do wonder if they're going to keep the 'time frozen' thing though and have some random NPC aniamted while everything around them is frozen solid.

Fun watch, either way the hype train will nail a best seller when they throw up cinematics like that on top of the ip.

I was thinking more gothic, morrowind.... then i see people saying more oblivion, thats implanted the seeds of doubt.

Like somebody said on this forum, oblivion was very much generic high fantasy, morrowind being totaly unique in it's style... personaly i just loved that.

Look forward to seeing more of it though:)

I preferred Oblivions 'high fantasy' to Morrowinds grey and brown, so this looks great :D

Well yes but if you put Oblivion through a grey/brown filter you end up with Fallout 3 and i'm sure there were mods to make Morrowind look more vibrant.

Wasn't there mention (i say mention i mean rubbing it in repeatadly) that a city in Skyrim is heavily influenced by Morrowinds architecture?

Well I said game play but just generally meant more in game footage for a change, but yeh, mostly just fly through and cut scene stuff and not actual game playing.

I was cautious when Skyrim first got announced but now i'm all excited. Sure looks like an improvement over Oblivion.
