The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

The most important thing for me is the story, and Bethesda know how to spin a good yarn, so I'll probably buy it for that alone.

Not to say gameplay isn't important though, and I share the same worries as many other people, that this will end up as a dumbed-down console game, even worse than Oblivion was.

Thank god for the modding community though, let's just hope they actually migrate to this game.
 
I also think it looks good HOWEVER Beth has a habbit of showing trailers that don't end up like the game actually is :D
 
Trailer does look very good.
Music is fantastic - makes me want to go and smash my head against a brick wall (you get the idea :p ).
And Max von Sydow's voice is awesome.
I'm curious to see what the argonians look like, when they are able to show us beast races.

I just want the modding community to do there thing as usual. I rarely play these games vanilla flavoured.

OT: Skyrim really seems like a promising game. Mindblowing graphics is just one part of it, then theres the story and the gameplay.
 
really like the music and atmosphere of game so far but as i think a lot probably already said I fear for the game engines limitations due to console port. But saying that i still enjoyed oblivion and the mods that usually come with elderscrolls solve a lot of gameplay related complaints

Yea everything about it looks great so far. It will be a lot better though after a load of improved texture packs, better weather + lighting mods, lots of rules and gameplay fixes, and character mods like better faces, armors and weapons. Like most ES games, it will take around 100+ mods to make it a better game.

Yea, just how much better can a game that will still run on the Xbox 360 get? Not by much I wouldnt think.

better get used to it. was exactly the same with oblivion. i remember getting 5-10 screenshots which looked great and then waiting ages for a trailer to find that it's essentially the same screenshots we've seen already. in oblivion they also used the screenshots for a lot of the loading screens.

No, it will be a different game. Believe it or not, you are not the final arbiter of what makes a game good: it's not good because you like it or bad because you don't. Mods don't improve games, they change them. For every person who likes what a mod does, a person (or more usually, several), does not.

No that would be the definition of a full conversion mod. Mods improve the game, full conversions change them. There are enough mods out there that everyone will like something. Unless you genuinly think the game is absolutely perfect and could not be improved in any way, shape or form... though if thats the case i'd say you lack the capacity for rational thought.
