The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

So you genuinely believe any mod improves the game? Any mod? Because that would be what you are implying by that. You are saying that the game is so bad that any change to it improves it. That a mod which made all characters walk in slow motion (it can be done BTW) would de facto be an improvement?

And for those of us who speak English, "full conversion mod" means "to change every aspect of a game". I'll agree that it still doesn't mean "improve" though. And did you get a little thrill there out of the sly dig?

Ah i should've known you'd start searching for the dumbest mod ideas imaginable in a vain effort to prove a point. No i would not consider a mod that made everything walk in slowmo a good thing but someone obviously did or they wouldn't of made it. no one creates a mod they don't think is an improvement even if its only a shortlived stupid one.

The chances are everyone has something about the game they are not happy with and the chances are there is a mod to change just that. Because i dunno about you but i certainly wouldn't consider a Herbalism mod that removes the tedium from harvesting plants anything but an improvement. Nor 1 that removes the psychic crime-detection radar ability of guards...

Full conversions mods are things like Nehrim, most normal mods don't change the game much if at all.

Things like the complete mod for stalker is just bug fixes and gfx upgrades, or in the tes games and most bethesda games the community unofficial patches are pretty much necessary to stop crashes/stupid glitches that they never patch out, but again don't change the game.

Hmm, i hope they fix the engine in this one and also do away with the character gfx they keep using and hopefully have different voice actors and a wide variety. Those were my main gripes with oblivion. I think mods would have helped me but i cba to do mods id like the game to actually do the stuff built in.

If it is on console then that kinda worries me a bit due to limitations.

One thing i really hope but i cant see it happening is a gta sa view i.e 3rd person especially for combat as i hated using a sword in first person it just never feels right.

The above video is how i feel about the trailer and the new Elder Scrolls game :)

LMAO, I only just clicked on and watched that :p

Thats how I used to be about Oblivion (minus the erection part, I swear!), and then when I got the game it was nothing but a huge disappointment.

Lessen well learnt. Dont get hyped up over pre release hype. The final game will usually be about 10% as good as all its hype, and also only 10% as good as its predecessor.

I spent more time modding Oblivion than I did playing, and it got boring after a few weeks, absolutely nothing like the 3+ years I spent absolutely hooked to morrowind.

I was also like that and got extremely bored by the experience. However now I must say with tools like wrye bash's BAIN installation and BOSS, I've found it an absolute doddle to set up the game, compared to the effort in the past, so that I'm actually enjoying it for once (shocker!).

I always thought Oblivion got a lot of stick that it didn't always deserve. I didn't find it anywhere near as bad as some people make out, and I even played it originally on the 360. I think I put 80+ hours into that game.

Oblivion isnt a bad game, but it had a lot of bad decisions like enemy level and loot scaling which was the single worst aspect of the game, and insanely low resolution land textures.

That stuff needed a lot of fixing.

No one on the official forums liked the scaling. Everything was too easy at level 1, and too hard at level 30. It was actually easier to complete Oblivion without ever resting or leveling your character than it was if you leveled up too much, which demonstrated just how flawed the level scaling system was.

Also at higher levels, every single bandit was equipped with the best armors and weapons, and the amount of daedric and glass equipment you could get and sell to become super rich was beyond broken.

There was nothing rewarding about getting the best equipment in Oblivion, it was far too common and dropped by everything.

I would be really surprised if Skyrim will be like that as well.

No that would be the definition of a full conversion mod. Mods improve the game, full conversions change them. There are enough mods out there that everyone will like something. Unless you genuinly think the game is absolutely perfect and could not be improved in any way, shape or form... though if thats the case i'd say you lack the capacity for rational thought.

Actually mods change the game. Whether you believe the changes are an improvement or not is based on personal opinion.

Roll the dice combat? Huh? The damage dealt had nothing to do with random number generation. Depending on the direction you were moving when you pressed attack altered the attack you did (unless you set it to always use the best which was kinda cheating for weapons like a Spear that were strong in thrust and bad at the rest) and depending on how long you held the attack for the damage would increase.

Morrowind was so incredibly weighted towards melee combat.
