The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Its the idiot PC owning thinking they are better than anyone else crew, same old same old...

A small minority thankfully, they grow out of it.

Humm, no, we are better, we are elitist and we are bored of developers screwing with games that could run a lot better graphically and in complexity wise on a pc just to cater for some 14 year old septic tank, who's got the attention span of a fish who can't be bothered to learn how to use a computer but just about has the brainpower to press the large "on" button on his/her/it's console.

Let the flames get bigger!

PS I love my Xbox it let's me stream movies to it from my PC!!

Lol, did I start something? :D

I never said that PC gamers were better than console gamers. I simply said that by developing on PC, you're more likely to get a much more 'powerful' or complex game at it's core which would then be made accessible and workable for consoles, rather than getting that accessible and console-workable game from the beginning which in many cases can jeopardise the gaming experience for those PC gamers.

It is especially poignant when a series which started on the PC, or became well-known on the PC for it's complexity etc, seems to be moving towards the accessible, less-complex end of the spectrum. If it was just some random game, it might not be an issue. But it can somewhat feel like a bit of betrayal. Melodramatic, possibly. Nonetheless, it is my opinion.

Feel free to continue slagging eachother off, though. It's very amusing.

This looks to be a fantastic game, especially now they have released a "trailer" of it at E3, its on my list of to buys, over 300hrs of gameplay then they gave up counting lol

I can't believe the Game Directors' personal gaming preference is the Xbox. Surely my ears deceive me.

Further disbelief at him trying to justify how the graphical experience is the same on both platforms because of the 'difference in the distance you sit from the monitor/tv'.

When questioned about enhancements for the PC he seemed have little interest and the best he came up with was fact that the devs work on PCs to develop the game, implying that is somehow beneficial to the PC version over consoles. Right...

Oh well never mind, but if it's anything like Oblivion with those excellent animations and 300 hours to boot I'll be more than happy.

but pc gamers are better than console gamers. consoles are only good for kiddos and simpletons.

Way to go bethesda spit on people that fix your broken games every time.

I think we all know that we will all end up getting it and it will be a brilliant game.

Then after a few weeks all the mods will start appearing and it will get even better.

It may be a console port but without playing it first no one can say it will be rubbish just for that reason!

Well said. It means nothing to me which is the 'lead platform', PC's will be modded to hell and back regardless, and the game looks lush as is.

exactly. apart from being selfish i can't see any reason why this game needs to be designed for pc first as pc's can mod where as consoles can't, so it's fairer to make it play better on console and then pc gamers can mod to how they want it any way which will be a 100 million different styles. i can understand with other games that don't allow mods why it's annoying but not this one

Assuming one of the refinements isn't the removal of the ability to mod the game although I find it hard to believe Bethesda would do something like that.

Well, I've already kind of said I'll get it eventually. Probably 6-12 months after release when some good quality mods have appeared. With Oblivion I was modding like crazy from day 1, was even one of the beta team on OOO from early on and helped a little with that. Fun times. Jorge' (Oscuro) went to work for Obsidian and did some work for F:NV so not sure he'll be doing his magic with Skyrim.

I just can't take all that hands on modding anyone, its too time consuming. I'll wait and see what others come up with. As I've said in the past, I do give Bethesda props for at least releasing modding tools...

In both Morrowind and Oblivion i was only ever interested in Graphics modding, i left the gameplay as is as was intended. But this time it look great off the bat

With Morrowind, I never had a real problem with it either (gameplay-wise) except for the clunky combat. My PC back then was not great so graphics mods would have fried it anyway. OB was different, just didn't like gameplay at all, for reasons I stated earlier in this thread, so went to work on it with a bunch of other people. The graphics were fine, never felt the need improve them even though I had a beefier comptuer for that game.

This is one of the games I'm really looking forward to (After BF3 of course) I hope the gameplay demo that they showed at E3 was a true representation of what the game can look/play like. Mostly looking forward to climbing that mountain I saw :).

I've never played the other elder scrolls, do you think I really need to play them to get the story line?

i never played morrow wind properly (was too young to understand what the **** was going on) and never struggled with oblivion. there may have been a few books which mentioned the events of morrowind but that was it that i was aware of. nothing story wise in oblivion related to morrowind at all. skyrim i imagine will be the same in that there is nothing to do with oblivion in skyrim but maybe one person will say "hey do you remember those oblivion gates that opened in another part of the world 400 yeas ago?" etc

if you haven't play oblivion i don't see why you don't now as it's a great game with so many mods to make it look even better.
