The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Really? I found the basic sprint (whirlwind) very useful for getting past things like swinging blades, but it never occurred to me that it could find new areas.

I'd imagine there are very few areas (if any) that can't be found without the use of the shout, but I imagine there will be a few that are easier to get to.

You'll need to kill off the dragon priests anyway to get all the masks assuming you go in for the OCD element of the game and don't want to miss any!

I'd still rather have a house sooner rather than later. Ingredients weigh a lot more than you think and its nice to have somewhere to store your misc items and the odd unique weapon.

TBH

Once you invest in the Riverwood trader, gold becomes a non problem, I have 250k gold now from selling mainly enchanted stuff and potions

And as such I just splashed out on houses in Whiterun and Solitude

I know of atleast one area, no doubt theres more

In the draugr infested ruins right near Ivarstead, which are supposedly haunted by a ghost. There is an area right near the end that contains a sword, it is only accessable if you use whirlwind sprint to cross a gap

Wow that picture is awesome, saved as my desktop :D

I'm now 96 hours in and have just been accepted into the Bard's college. Randomly I found a lute ("Flynn's Lute") and thought this was random, and when I tried to store it wouldn't let me as it was a quest item. Turned out to be for someone at the Bard's College. No idea what the quest or history was, as I found it before getting the quest. The reward is great. She levelled up a good 5 or 6 of my skills :)

A really fun game, just getting into it. One thing is frustrating (to me at least lol) and thats the weapon-effects.

I mean...I shoot some dude in the HEAD with an arrow. Its STICKING out of his head....and he keeps coming at me with his health at 90%. Looks so stupid!

I hop a mod comes out that means headshot = instant drop!

Ive a couple of enchanting questions.

I know if you find a magical item, as long as you don't know the base magic power (fire etc) then you can disenchant it, however, is it possible to disenchant an item that you have already enchanted.

i've some armour that has some enchantments on but I've got better ones I'd like to add but it appears I can't disenchant them or select them again to enchant over the top of.

And how do enchantments on weapons work? How can you recharge them?

You can't re-enchant items.

You can only disenchant items for which you do not know the enchant. Therefore you can never disenchant something YOU have enchanted.

Someone will probably create a mod that alters this behaviour in the new year.

To charge weapons just highlight it in your inventory and look at the bottom of the screen. It tells you to press T to charge. Once you've pressed T you then need to select a Soul Gem to use for the process. Use the keyboard to scroll down the list. No need to waste Grand Souls for charging weapons.

I don't think it does other than make combat easier. Could be wrong though.

I've got a question about necklaces and potions of resist magic. When is a good time to use these, as opposed to say using potions or necklaces of resist fire, frost, ice, shocks, etc? Does resist magic potions and necklaces simply resist all those or something else?

I was wondering the same thing.

I enjoyed the mission to join the Bard's college. There must have been about 15 Draugrs and about 4 Draugr Overlords. I just sneak attacked them all, but had to deal with the overlords up close and personal.

If you're getting hit by multiple types of elemental damage then using a single Resist Magic is better than a single Resist Fire, but there is just no reason to not use potions of Resist Fire, Shock and Frost since the Resist Magic potions are so ****.

Enemies simply don't use non-elemental offensive magic because it basically doesn't exist in this game. There's no Silence so no need to worry about that, never seen anything use Paralyse, there's no Damage Health or Absorb Health (excluding enchanted weapons) spells, its all elemental damage. So really, Resist Magic is totally useless unless you can get it as a permanent effect in reasonable quantities. Plus NPCs tend to stick to a single elemental type and basically all creatures are geared towards one element. I still use a Resist Magic potion along with my Resist Frost/Fire against a Dragon because every little helps in that situation but otherwise... ignore Resist Magic.

tedious?! it's like 5 quests!

Your point? Yes its short and shallow and possibly 1 of the worst quest lines I've ever played in a TES game but there is 1 painful boss and 1 totally overpowered boss. You're telling me you'd have no trouble killing Morokei with a low level? Sneak doesn't work very well against Dragon Priests, Melee combat? loldeathwish. Magic? That'll take the best part of 30 minutes while he 1 shots you.

You've gotta get in and do the 'lesson' which takes forever. Then you've gotta wander through that first dungeon. Go get some librarians books from a powerful Necromancer. Do some more wandering in the basement. Work your way through Mzulft which isn't all that short and Dwemer Guardians are VERY powerful, then Labyirinthian which is even longer and far more painful.

At low level you will get absolutely demolished by the bosses and the foes can be a complete no-go zone for certain character play types.

I've found Sneak to work very well against Dragon Priests, but it totally depends where you are. Morokei never found me and I took him out with about 5 arrows. Krosis was a real SOB. He jumped up out of a chest behind me just as I was unlocking a shout.

As posted above, I hid behind a pillar and sneak arrowed him around 10 times without him even seeing me... on the second attempt.

First attempt, I cast my Flame Atronach, he turned it upon me then he 1-shot zapped me to death.

Just as i thought this game couldnt possibly get more epic, i discover

BLACKREACH....

Anyone know who sells training in enchantment? I'm level 97 currently, but I cba to stand enchanting a load of rubbish to get the Extra Effect perk.

Also, has anyone had any issues with the game BSODing with a nvlddmkm.sys error? My mate is trying to play it but it keeps doing this every 10 mins or so. I've told him to delete the .ini files and run the LAA 4GB patcher but no joy :(
