The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Just as i thought this game couldnt possibly get more epic, i discover

BLACKREACH....

Screenshot below - its a very special place

Yeah I thought that at first but....(don't read unless you've cleared it)

There is absolutely **** all in there. Its apparently 2sq miles, but other than sight-seeing there are about 10 enemies and a few empty houses. Total dissapointment.

I take your point, but....

Its still lovely for sightseeing, AND you can summon a named dragon - thats pretty exciting

If you're getting hit by multiple types of elemental damage then using a single Resist Magic is better than a single Resist Fire, but there is just no reason to not use potions of Resist Fire, Shock and Frost since the Resist Magic potions are so ****.

Enemies simply don't use non-elemental offensive magic because it basically doesn't exist in this game. There's no Silence so no need to worry about that, never seen anything use Paralyse, there's no Damage Health or Absorb Health (excluding enchanted weapons) spells, its all elemental damage. So really, Resist Magic is totally useless unless you can get it as a permanent effect in reasonable quantities. Plus NPCs tend to stick to a single elemental type and basically all creatures are geared towards one element. I still use a Resist Magic potion along with my Resist Frost/Fire against a Dragon because every little helps in that situation but otherwise... ignore Resist Magic.

Nice, thanks for the explanation.

And on a different note, check out this video :p

Anyone know who sells training in enchantment? I'm level 97 currently, but I cba to stand enchanting a load of rubbish to get the Extra Effect perk.

At a guess, the Enchanter in the College of Winterhold? If its not him then I'm stumped, unless he gives you hints on who to talk to for more training.

Meh, it didn't work against Krosis even with 60+ sneak. Was funny being able to stand on top of a ruined pillar and have him constantly shoot Fireballs at the pillar below me so it'd miss. Guess the landscape is better for it around Morokei, that and Sneak is always totally broken anyway. Just got my Quick Draw perk for my bow, I swear its faster than 30%, with the stagger effect you can easily get a second shot off before they can move again.

Can't say I've had any trouble with crashing at all. I've had it happen a couple of times, once a bizarre crash after I cancelled my drawn bow and don't really remember the other.

After two years solid of playing nothing but WoW, I bought myself a copy of this yesterday and made a start this morning - it's a bit OMFG in scope innit?!

I'm playing as a Redguard warrior type and I've escaped from Helgen, choosing to follow Ralof in the process.

I looted a load of armour and weapons on the way out of Helgen - have equipped the best stuff - can I sell the stuff I don't need or do I have no option but to just dump it? Have only got as far as Riverwood at the moment - the innkeeper will only buy my food or ingredients and the trader is only interested in selling me stuff.

Would you say it's taking the challenge away to save games during epic battles? I always try to finish a battle from start to end without saving and sometimes succeed. But sometimes, like now where I'm in an epic boss battle with Potema's undead and frost atronachs, I find it hard to not to die without saving after a few kills, since there's quite lot of them coming at me pretty relentlessly. Do many here do this?

I do this, mainly because i don't play elderscrolls games for the challenge.I play them for the adventure/dungeon crawling/story of each quest.Battles are just something i have to do to move my experience along.

Depends what sort of epic battle.

Theres the fight with the Companions where you seem to be fighting an endless number of Draugr before the NPC spellcaster boss turns up that was awesome to fight from start to finish without saving.
Then theres bosses like Morokei who seem to have a stupid amount of health so your spells do sod all and can 1 hit kill you so the whole fight is just tedious. Those I'll save it regularly during the fight.

I did the Morokei fight a while ago and saved once or twice during that, yeah. That was fun. Right now, I'm doing Wolf Queen Awakened - Defeat Potema in her catacombs. Very tough as there's a lot of pretty strong draugrs and there's also a draug deathlord who disarms me. I'll get there but been at it for a couple of hours so far.:)

Hmmm I have a bit of prob!

I did a mission (forget which now) and I now have the whole of Markath after me

i thought i would go Gung-ho and destroy the town, but I cant kill the Jarl or some of the 'important people' - They drop to their knees and there health regens, gah

The options I have are Pay gold (which they dont accept), go to jail (which i lose everything??) or attack..but i cant attack cos i cant kill them all and cant do some of the missions at Understone Keep! They persistently attack till I die

How can I solve this? :(

And another quick question, how many use the Shrouded kit for Dark Brotherhood Missons / Thieves Gould armour for the TG missons? I just find myself using my normal armour (Daedric) as if I get attacked im pretty solid with it!

The Riverwood blacksmith (Opposite the general store) should buy any spare weapons/armour you have.

I've just killed the leader of stony creek cave and found this:

It's called Treasure Map X

Is it outside the cave? Or some completely different location? Because I can't find anything inside the cave other than a couple of chests.

Funny, I'm just about to go hnting for that. I have a feeling the chick at the bottom is a shrine of Azura or Boethiah maybe?

Its neither Azura or Boethiah, it is one of the Star signs in Skyrim and Oblivion - she is The Lady.

As the map shows the Standing Stone dedicated to the Lady is on an Island in a Lake with a sunken Fort. The maps are usually found quite near to the location of the treasure so it shouldn't be too difficult to find. (I know exactly where it is since I've discovered it prior to finding the map - one of the things I've got to get round to as well - but telling you exactly where it is would take the fun out of it wouldn't it :)

The stone when activated gives a 25% increase in Health and Stamina regeneration.

This game constantly amazes me. Only the other day I found a mad old woman who wanted me to Wabberjack her (oooerr) - unfortunately I didn't have my Wabberjack on me so I'm going to have to find her again at some point and zap her with it :)

Actually on further inspection,
it looks like she's representing snakes and the arrow is pointing to the centre of a circle of stones. I suspect it's where I went a while back when I got the serpent stone. I just can't remember where that was.

The thing that ****** me off the most about this game is the draugr overlord's disarm shout. So many weapons never to be seen again :(
