The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Blimey, was reading another forum where someone has 300,000 gold. Then someone else mentioned he has 650,000 gold. But then someone else said he's sitting on 2 million gold stored in all his houses, lol
I'm a pauper by comparison with my 42K. Well, now down to 34K as I spent 10K on training my two handed from 68 to 74.

I think i'm near 200,000k. Probably a lot more if I sold everything from my chest in my house. Shame its useless at this stage.

Right I spent 1k gold on a horse at the stable in Whiterun (sick of taking ages to get anywhere!) and I did the dragonshout thingy at the top of the mountain but got duffed up by the frost troll on the way a few times which scared my horse who promptly ran off. Is there anything I can do to get it back or is that 1k gold down the tubes? :(

Gah, that troll gave me grief too. In the end I had to just run for it instead.

Have to say, that trek up the mountain to do the shout trials was absolutely spectacular. Just couldn't believe how it kept going up and up - it was almost giving me vertigo and I swear I could feel the lack of oxygen :)

Yeah that frost troll is just nasty. Strongest breed of troll (I think) so a melee character just gets his face smashed in by it. Went up there as an archer to have a Dragon land in front of me and start fighting the troll for me so I just sat back plinking both of them with arrows ^^

Does fire not work? I read a book saying that they are very vulnerable to it, so fire arrows or fireball? :)

They all say that but it doesn't exactly help. Theres no such thing as 'Fire Damage' poisons anymore and the climb to High Hrothgar is pretty early on so having a fire enchanted weapon is unlikely and even if you do it won't do much damage. Only a spellcasting type has access to Fire in any reliable sense.

I'm only 17 hours into the game after getting it for Christmas and loving it so far. But I do find it annoying that it's easier to kill the Dragons than the Frost Trolls or the Snowy Sabre Cats.

Trolls are really really easy as a melee character because they are incredibly slow, just avoid their attacks and attack once/twice yourself, then back off again and repeat. Once you get down the timing you wont get hit again.

The first couple of dragon breeds are pitifully weak against random creatures. That Frost Troll would've won the fight easily if I wasn't there. Then you get Sabre Cats that move so fast you can't flee them, same with Bears who kill you in a few hits.

Trolls can't regenerate their health fast enough when attacked with fire, it's what they're most vulnerable to. If you have a flame spell, that always kills it. They get really easy to kill pretty quickly as your magicka and stamina increase, since the flame spell can keep going for longer while your increased stamina helps you keep sprinting out of it's way as it runs and lunges at you. I use a staff of chain lightning in one hand which drains 40 points of health and makes them stagger, and a flame spell in the other. Oh and a flame shout too for good measure. You'll get good frost troll practise when you get to Labrynthian. :D

I eventually got the frost troll using a fireball scroll I found and some fire magic. They are indeed very weak to it but I had to use a few magicka potions.

Struggling to find Lucan to give him back his golden claw though. He seems to have disappeared.

SLI won't make it any smoother, the game just has areas were frame rates dip below 60 fps no matter what hardware you through at it. At least that's what 2 GTX 560's OC'd to 905 Mhz and an i7 920 OC'd to 3.8Ghz had to say about it.

Read the few posts before yours - you're not the only one having trouble with that troll :)
