The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing game and I have definitely got my monies worth at 250 hours so far and counting :D.

The outside environments more than make up for it. Some areas look like an autumn setting with falling orange leaves then you run for a while and end up in 6" of snow and a blizzard. I have spent hours exploring and finding new areas.

I found it quite hard too, my follower died a couple of times but my dog survived. I think I was a similar level.

I stood at the back near the door and just potioned up, and focused on the ghost at hand, leaving my followers to kill the Draugr, actually I found the first one hardest and the last one was very easy. Just save between each one, and you should be fine. Using some health absorb enchanted weapons helps a lot in a tough fight

Thanks. that worked a treat. manage to do it. Love this game.

Anyways i dont even know which is the main quest now as i got like 30+ quests open in my log.

is the main quest the one where i have to kill t
he Alduin http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Alduin ? if so, can i do it at level 30? or should i level up more and stock up on as much potions as i can because all i got to do it interrogate some dragon i caught in dragonsreach and tell him to take me to where Alduin is

yes thats the end of the main quest line, and someone said they had completed it at lvl 12 with a "pants bow" if I remember correctly :) So yuo should be ok.

personally I postponed that quest line until lvl50 and did everything else first. While finishing it allows you to continue doing other quests as normal, it took some of the excitement away I guess. Strange though, as its not even a particularly strong story line IMO.

Ahh i see. Yea it doesnt feel like a main quest. Story is a bit pants as u say. i thought it was just another random quest im doing :)

two advantages to getting the main quest done now are:

Having a new "ghost" follower, and the dragon you trapped in Dragons Reach can be summoned to fight for you, if you choose to keep him around. Thats a nice touch for dragon fights and any outdoor battles.

edit, spoiler tag fail :(

Has anyone else noticed that during the civil war quest killing enemy soldiers counts as murder? Seems a bit strange.

I suspect you made the same mistake I did: join the legion and go to war with the Stormcloaks, then wind up thinking that it's open season on anybody wearing light blue and one of those Nordic helmets.

The problem is that the town guards in places like Riften are visually incredibly (exactly?) similar to the Stormcloak soldiers. It's even worse in some of the villages out in the countryside where it really isn't clear whether you're engaging with guards or troops. I managed to murder my way up to a 10k bounty before I realised I'd been hacking my way through the local rozzers. Very annoying.

:P yeah, somehow the "/" was in the wrong place and I failed on my edit.. meh. moving on..

Not you, Jonneys epic spoiler a few posts back.

It is very annoying sometimes when you can't tell if people are friend or foe until they start attacking you ><

heh ok, I thought that too actually.:)

yeah, If I am going to snipe someone at a new location with a bow I just F5 first in case its a friendly, but pretty much always they turn out to be a bandit or w/e

Anyone else suffering bugs since the last patch? Everytime I exit a building I get about 1 FPS, I have to back in and then out again hoping that it resumes to normal :(
Try removing any mods. I experienced a similar issue when testing out the Realistic Water mod.

If you have the detect life spell use it. Goodies are blue and baddies show as red.

I don't and thats not a guarantee'd indicator as some enemies show as friendly until you approach them, then they turn hostile. I use the Aura Whisper shout anyway since its a 'Detect Everything' spell with a gigantic range and it displays everyone as red. Great to be able to spot Dwemer, Undead and Living in 1 shout.

Had some success today moving "The Companions" quest line forward.

Like a lot of people having completed

Blood's Honor

I returned to Whiterun only to find it in a 'stuck' state. The relevant NPC

Vilkas

wouldn't give me the next quest in the series:-

Purity of Revenge

despite updating the previously completed quest. Several NPC's had gone to scripted locations and remained stuck.

Advice on the Internet at The Unofficial Elder Scrolls stated that you had to wait one in game month for the Dungeon at Driftshade Refuge to respawn. It appears that a lot of problems with this quest revolve around people entering Driftshade Refuge to complete another quest.

There was a rather ominous warning that "There is a chance that waiting the 30 in game days after clearing Driftshade Refuge will NOT correct the glitch. Also, entering Driftshade Refuge before the quest activates may not fix the problem either. If Driftshade Refuge has been cleared prior to completing Blood's Honor, no matter what, there is a chance the quest is forever lost." Eek.

So since a month in game had elapsed, I did what the bugfix suggested and used the console to advance to the next quest. With Vilkas in front of me in Jovaskrr, I typed the following

setstage C05 0

This removed my existing companion and added Vilkas (as it should do doing the quest normally) - I then got the updates in my Journal and off we set to Driftshade Refuge.

Completing the quest and then returning to Whiterun sucessfully updated the Journal and advanced to the next Quest. I can confirm that all NPCS returned to their normal behaviour and everything seems find again :)

Hope this helps anyone who finds themselves with this problem.
