The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Lol, the spectral assassin I can conjure sounds like an american roger moore, or one of those deep slow voices they typically use on trailers for american movies. :D

Is there any way I can force Steam to download the new patch? I logged in, but it hasn't downloaded anything. :confused:

Edit: I do have it set to automatically download, by the way.

Try validating the files otherwise run Steam as admin then refresh the main page sometimes works.

The patch has boosted my fps by 20-30 in towns/cities it's really nice and usually 100-120fps constant inside dungeons/buildings which is brilliant motion.

By the way i am from Middlesex too hehe. :p

Hmm, yeah, I did try that and it said it was all ok, even though the last modified date of TESV.exe was 31st Jan (I had the beta installed). I deleted TESV.exe and did it again, which it did re-download, but now I'm not sure if other files need updating as well. :p Apparently the launcher now has some kind of Steam functionality, which mine doesn't.

I'm a Teddingtonian, right on the border with Surrey. :D

Edit: just read that the final beta was the same as the update, so I guess it doesn't need to update. :p

Yeah, that's what I was thinking but the master locks still snapped my picks just as quickly, there doesn't seem to be any extra threshold of movement left or right beyond a couple of millimetres or so.

There's a few 'instant snap' areas and a few 'will snap at the last moment even though you're close to the locks pick area' spots no matter what gear you have on, and a single item even if it's a 40% bonus won't make a huge difference to a master level lock, but when you have a few items equipped all 20-40% it's noticable, I can go from needing a dozen picks for a master lock, down to 1-2. But it doesn't seem to increase the pick location much, it'll widen the section where you can feel it's starting to give but the pick point is fairly unmoved for a hard lock. The biggest difference is in the snapping-speed so you can test out many more places in a sequence.

I have finally finished "Waking Nightmare" after the bloke I was meant to follow glitched and kept sticking when heading towards the library to unlock the door. He kept sticking on the stairs up.

I have been stuck on it for a few days.

For anyone having this problem use relenting force to get him to the door edge and then repeatedly run into him eventually he opened the door and I completed the quest

I used unrelenting force within about a minute of seeing him stuck and not moving around; did the trick. I also had the bug whereby you go into the tower and he's not there and you're stuck in the room by yourself. The trick with that bug (I had to look it up) is when he goes from 'Skyrim' to enter the tower, you have to beat him to it, so that when you enter he is warped to your side.

There's a book on Daedra that lists them all...

Just walking past a copy now. 'Book of Daedra':

* Azura
+ Boethiah
? Clavicus Vile
? Hermaeus Mora
+ Hircine
? Malacath
? Mehrunes Dragon
? Mephala
* Meridia
* Molag Bal
? Namira
? Nocturnal
* Peryite
* Sanguine
- Sheogarath
+ Vaernima

Key:
* = Done it, got the t-shirt
+ = Doing it
- = Not doing it, but know enough to know it exists
? = No idea or not sure enough yet (though a couple of them have been mentioned by others so I reckon some if not all are there)

Right yeah, having tested more, I believe you're correct. It does widen the section.

Well, this is the best earn from an urn I've had so far. :p

The patch didn't fix the broken Companion quest for me so I've just gone back to my Lvl 38 save, bit miffed as I was Lvl 52 with lots of nice things :mad: Ah well, at least I can change my character a bit this time & I know what not to spec in!

If this is where you've finished Bloods Honor (killing the Glenmoril Witches) resulting in the next quest failing activate when speaking to Vikas and members of the Companions standing outside Jorrvaskr, then there is a work around.

The next quest that should activate is called

Purity of Revenge

Advice on the Internet at The Unofficial Elder Scrolls site stated that you had to wait one in game month for the Dungeon at Driftshade Refuge to respawn. It appears that a lot of problems with this quest revolve around people entering Driftshade Refuge to complete another quest.

There was a rather ominous warning that "There is a chance that waiting the 30 in game days after clearing Driftshade Refuge will NOT correct the glitch. Also, entering Driftshade Refuge before the quest activates may not fix the problem either. If Driftshade Refuge has been cleared prior to completing Blood's Honor, no matter what, there is a chance the quest is forever lost."

So since a month in game had elapsed, I backed up my saved games and I did what the bugfix suggested.

First I opened up the Console, then with Vilkas in front of me in Jovaskrr, I typed the following

setstage C05 0

This removed my existing companion and added Vilkas (as it should do doing the quest normally) - I then got the updates for Purity of Blood in my Journal and off we went to Driftshade Refuge.

Completing the quest and then returning to Whiterun sucessfully updated the Journal and advanced to the next Quest. I can confirm that all NPCS returned to their normal behaviour and everything seems find again.

Had a week away from the game, been supper busy at work. Looking forward to getting back into it. Think I was around Lvl 29 and barely touched the main quest yet.

How do u earn more coins in this game? i only get around 20-100 coins on drops/chests from hideouts/caves and always takes me a while to even save up 1k of coins. i have also sold a lot of stuff but most stuff i can only sell for like 100-200 coins only.

The more you level, the more access you will have to higher prize items/chest loots and rewards for going quests....

How far in are you to the game?
