The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

just got the update.

it's broken my game.

tried to activate a lever in a cave i was in to progress and it wouldnt work.

tried to do some other missions. i had to find someone but when i found them it didnt "update" my mission status. same with other quests.

so 40hours down the pan ?

Ps- tried another save firther back, no luck

No mods or ini tweaks?

  1. Verify integrity of the game files in Steam.
  2. Try copying all saves to another folder and leaving just one to load.
  3. Start a new game, save after the cutscenes and load that save to see if it works.
  4. Delete Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini from My Games/Skyrim.
  5. Disable MSI Afterburner if you use it.

Try them in that order, I'll get back to you if I can think of anything else.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking but the master locks still snapped my picks just as quickly, there doesn't seem to be any extra threshold of movement left or right beyond a couple of millimetres or so.

2 files failed to verify. they are being aquired again. do you think this will fix it?

It should do if something was missing in the download or files became corrupted.

You can also try deleting Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files from the My Games/Skyrim folder as the game will recreate them from scratch on launch.

They definitely make a big difference for me
 
If you're experiencing crashes/freezing try uninstalling SKSE or Script Dragon if you're using them. I was using them with the beta patch (the most up to date versions) and was getting lots of crashes, but since I uninstalled them it's been very smooth. I'm guessing they need to do a bit more work to make them compatible with the new patch.

SKSE works just fine, Script Dragon isn't compatible yet.
