The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

WHAT???? How much money for a freaking statue that prolly only costs a fiver at the most to make?

£129.99 for a statue and art book.
The contents themselves for a collectors edition are sparse but for that price is mind boggling.

And just to compare the UK price equates to 211 bucks. The Americans are paying $150 which is about 90 quid.

Are you sure? Because the game visually looks like crap for it to need anywhere close to a 5850 'recommended' for 1024x768. I reckon even a 5770 could run it 1080p with smooth frame rate.

I think it's the same for ALL games, they base all their spec rec's around the 1024x768 res, used to be 800x600 back in the day.

Hopefully they'll show us some other gameplay footage before release. So far we've only had one bit, and it'd be nice to see some other locations other than that same snowy path and mountain.

I'm hoping my 3.2Ghz 955 will be enough, and I'll have to try it out to see if my 5850 will need replacing. Hopefully just a GPU upgrade and not a full rig rebuild. :(

What have you seen that I haven't from the footage released, that a 5850 and 955 wouldn't be able to handle? The game looks stunningly average visually.

I don't know. Having not played it, but knowing how Bethesda games tend to be somewhat poorly optimised.

That and high-texture mods, etc which will no doubt require more system resources than the base game.

Skyrim's graphics are poor by today's standards but you have to remember that it will be a terrible port which will cripple performance.

It kinda sucks. I want to get this game on Steam for the ability to download/play without discs and I find the way Steam manages access to my games very easy to use. But I also want the CE. .-.

Still possible that it'll be a Steamworks title. I'm holding off any kind of purchase until I know.

That said, you can't buy the damned thing on Steam in the UK anyway right now.
