The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I'm finding it hard to take ANY sides, to be honest. They are all simultaneously good and bad, like the Stormcloaks and the Imperials, Markarth and the Forsworn...at the moment I'm decidedly neutral.

Pighardia, why are you going for Imperials?

As a passing Dunmer says on his way to Solitude;) - "A united Empire is better for everyone"

Like you though, I am pretty neutral. That is why I have played for probably over 200 hours in all playthroughs and have not chosen a side yet. Like most though, whoever I side with, I will be looking to take on the Thalmor. I think there will almost certainly be an expansion involving them.

In terms of the actual war between Imperials and Stormcloaks and not the overall picture though, I am totally neutral

The Thalmor > all.

Seriously, they aren't even racist like a lot of people claim, they know they are by far the superior race as of TES V Skyrim since strength etc was taken out. High Elves now do the most melee damage due to their setsize profile, have the most magicka & take the least damage. Lore wise are the most intelligent BY MILES and are selective in their breeding, which only enhances their race over time. How many men or beast races in TES Universe do you think inbreed accidently or even on purpose? C'mon.

They have legit turned into Lord of the Ring's style elves, strong enough to rip a man's arm clean from the socket without any effort while being intelligent enough to rewrite lore itself. Wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda rereleased lore officially (and not just mechanically) with them being stronger than Orc's (not in Berserk obviously, nothing is) and Nord's. The only living humanoid race I can imagine being similar in terms of strength, agility and intelligence are the Ka Po' Tun, which are basically the same as the Vah Shir from the Everquest universe.

Also, their 'we are better than everyone, and therefore everyone else shall be killed' philosophy, I wouldn't condone it in reality, but in a fiction fantasy setting in which you have no real conscience? Bloody badass.

They are the superior race in every way, and I haven't even played an Altmer since Morrowind.

Yea I found that. But its a one hander... also I have no idea how to use the soul gem things...

I'v finished the main campaign now....

Ah I thought you meant one-handed axes sorry. I started off two-handed but then I changed to one so I could wield a spell at the same time. As for soul gems, they're a doddle once you get the hang of them, check this out.

hehe had to laugh earlier had a blast not played for a long while and a dragon just wasnt bothered about me it just kept going for the mamouths for some reason :p

finally starts frying them and the giant is like wtf you doing clubs it straight down :D im like thanks as i go to turn around a cheeky lizrd bloke is trying to rob me git :D

Total Skyrim noobie here

I'm a total newbie to Skyrim and have never played any of the earlier Elder Scrolls series of games. Any Advice on the the best way or starting out after only playing years of the Tomb Raider Games.

Best advice is NOT to read the wiki linked above. Just run around and explore the world, and play stuff as you encounter it, dont get the game completely ruined by reading anything on the wiki for your first time playing an Elder Scrolls game.

Boot game, make cool looking character, plod about and see what happens TILL A DRAGON ATTACKS!!!!

Enjoy not needing to go out side for a few weeks :D

Start the game and play around with it.

I played Oblivion and couldn't get into it, got Skyrim and loved it. Plus the mods make it look lovely.

First time I played it on PS3 and didn't read in to anything, spent an ages trying to work out what to do, had fun, got to level 70 or so. Sold the game on PS3 and now have a decent PC but waiting for Skyrim to come cheap on Steam then I will play it and know what I am doing.

Just venture around, you will soon get it !

Skyrim will never be cheap on Steam. It's a steamworks game, so just buy it somewhere else for cheap (around £20).
