The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I am playing atm and I have just has something different happen and I wonder if anyone can tell my why/what happens in this bit?...I will put it in spoilers, though I doubt anyone would care tbh.

I am replaying atm, doing the main quest and I was doing the Thalmor Embassy quest for about the 4th time. Basically every time I have done it before, there has been 4-5 people in the party bit, where you have to cause a distraction...of the top of my head there has been me, Erikur, the Thalmor guys and Maven Blackbriar. Now on this playthrough whilst doing this mission I found that there were about 15 people there including the Jarls of Soliyude, Whiterun, Falkreath and Morthal. Also Proventus something, Vitoria Vicci and some other characters from other parts of the game.

This really took me by surprise as it has been different all the other times I have done it. Does it play differently based on some factors I am not aware of, or did I have a bug or something?

Yep, basically it depends on what quest lines you have done. For example the dark brotherhood will mean Maven is there I believe. Its basically the people you meet through those quest lines.

It is pretty cool that it is done like that, though I am not sure of the specifics. Last time I did that quest it was late in the game after I had pretty much done everything else, so I had met everyone and done pretty much all questlines, and I didn't see anyone there other than the defaults. This time, I am doing the main quest before anything else, so I have not even been to falkreath, morthal, winhelm, markarth or winterhold, but the jarls were there even though I had never met them. Must be basedon something else...either that or it was buggy before.
Anyway, it really took me by surprise.

Also, I am pretty sure maven ia there no matterwhen you do it.

Second playthrough and i can't decide between heavy and light armour. I was going to go heavy cos i did light last time but the slowness and noise puts me off. Going for more of a melee character this time but still trying to sneak a bit.

Really torn between the two, any recommendations?

Do both. Keep the heavy for fights when you need it and the light for running around in general.

Both would be brilliant, I'll have a look at the perks, as I'd probably have to put some into both perk trees then.

Not really. I am playing a mainly Heavy armour character atm, and I can honestly say that in probably over a thousand hours of RPG playing, it is the first time I have ever used Heavy armour:eek:(and 2-hnded weapons). I am really enjoying it.

You do not have to put any perks in to light armour at all...when you think about it, you are not using it for its damage resistance, so there isn't much need to increase it unless you are only using light armour. I have put all my points in to heavy and some in to sneak, and when I have an area I wish to sneak through, I wear the light armour(thieves), and in general play I use heavy, which has all of the perks attastched. Plus with categorized favourites, you can switch between armour sets at a click of a button.

My advice- put all of your points in to Heavy, and use Light armour when you need to sneak around

Light Armor still slows you down, so really for movement out of combat your best bet would be a set of clothes. I think you can get mods that add proper animal fur/skin civilian clothes to the game, for some nice immersion.

Aww yeah, my Dragonborn preorder arrived today from Shopto.net. Really surprised with the Royal Mail as I only ordered it yesterday and it will mean I can play it when it hits 6pm. I can't wait!

Dawnguard was substantial enough for me!...got over 25 hours from it.

Same here! Loved Dawnguard and looking forward to playing through it choosing the anti-vamp side :P

It was Hearthfire that I have yet to get any play from. I'll have to figure it out at some point haha!

Dawnguard also adds infinite playtime if you think about it, if you become a Vampire Lord and spend along time playing mods/vanilla content after Dawnguard and use the power a lot, you could consider that even more mileage from the expansion, same goes with any of the mechanics/items really, like Crossbows.

I've not played Skyrim in ages. Might be tempted to delete my existing character and start over with a new one, so I can sample these new DLC's with all the content intact.
