There are some which are massively advantaged early game
Orc for example has a bezerker rage buff which gives you double damage and take half damage making many of the tougher enemies attainable at much lower levels. Also you start with in my opinion the best starting stats but that's all depends on play style I suppose. Redguard is also a very early game advantaged race.
Heres a good look at the starting stats and buffs for each race
Pick which you want. The buffs aren't really needed IMO, and they're all much alike. Although if you really want to do a more rpg style thing, then read up about them.
Bretons magic resistance is fairly godly throughout the game, as is orcs adrenaline thingy for melee - these are the only two worth basing your race choice on really. But essentially any race is completely viable late game once you have some decent (crafted) equipment.
I wouldnt have thought that an übergaylord politically correct title like Skyrim would have the balls to so much as suggest that their is any qualitive differences between any of the 'races' in thier game.
and also remember kids, female warriors are just as hard as the male ones.
