The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

What's the deal with the games built in AA and AF settings, do they even work? It certainly doesn't look like 8x AA to me. I disabled Skyrim AA and AF settings and forced them through CCC and now it doesn't look like it's applying any AA.

Slowly getting there with my character. Specialising in the Great Sword, and trying to get my smithing nice and high so I can make me some awesome armor & weapons! Went Stormcloaks, and have finished that main quest. Leaving the Dragonborn quests alone a bit so I can get about in the game a bit more, but may do some more of them so I can get a load of XP.

Is the Legendary Edition coming out on Steam on 7th June along with retail release? Or will it be a period of time afterwards? I can't recall Steam ever doing day-and-date release of special (GotY) editions.

I'm pretty sure the retail version is just a boxed steam key. Its a complete steal at 20 quid!

Is there a list of mods I can download that make this game playable and good looking?

Comprehensive guide to graphics mods, including what order to install them and the FPS hit, and everything is optional.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11/?

There is also a mods thread on here with a lot of talk, and a user has very kindly uploaded a big file featuring lots of the texture mods.

any skyrim gurus on here care to help a brother out?

as title suggests, anyone into skyrim [still] be able to lend me a bit of advice?

I've been getting a lot into increasing graphical quality recently and I've been downloading a lot of mods [300 total, about 250 loaded and at least 100 graphics related]

amazingly, i'm still getting 'acceptable' framerates most places on ye olde bulldozer and a 7850. thing is i'm experiencing the following issues:

i'd like to know if there's any proof of the supposed cpu threading tweaks here actually work and especially for 8 cores.

currently my main issue is stuttering, framerate keeps about 50-60 ish but there is really bad stuttering every few seconds or so outdoors, is there a fix for this? I read somewhere about memory allocation being an issue.

many thanks in advance

*goes off to find which mod caused that last crash*

Its mainly I amd card problem most shuttering problem are on them including me :( outside is fine in a dungeon its bad but I did try all the fixes and stuff only one got rid of the problem the .dll from the new vages site which works with skyrim.

If you're having the weird AMD 'mouselook stuttering' (only affects you when looking around, most prominent when moving mouse diagonally), you can fix it by running MSI Afterburner, and setting the frame limiter feature to 60FPS.

The game was literally unplayable for me without doing this. Also on a 7850 here.

But if your game was fine before modding, then it's not going to be that ;)

I've been having a similar problem since I installed some weather mods (frostfall, wet and icy). If you have any of those kind of mods might be worth removing them and see if it makes a difference.

I'm on nVidia, and I'm getting the same stuttering when indoors, especially in Dwermer ruines. Runs fine for 5 secs, then 2-3 secs stuttering, then fine...

As above, I think its a mod, I'm just going to have to fix it with trial and error...
