The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Really must get round to buying this, I think I'm probably the only gamer that hasn't played it!

I never thought I'd like it and when it first came out I got so sick of seeing Skyrim screenshots. I finally gave it a blast and became hooked. I have about 400 hours in it. Just started another playthrough as a sneak thief archer - it's my nVidia character, you know: The way it's meant to be played :D

Just Finished all the DLC and Main Quest.. Wow you need decent armour going against Mirakk and Alduin!!

Yeah I'm quite seasoned with this game, in that I know how to use the enchantment, smithing, archery skills etc and when not to take on certain quests. I'm about 10 hours in and have barely reached level 40 on only two skills so far, so I daren't take on anything more serious than "kill the bandit leader of ..." type quests. I randomly go deer hunting now and again for the pelts and archery points :D

Shall wait until it's on sale at Steam again, and give it a shot. Should have bought it when the legendary edition was on Steam for a tenner, oh well...

Skyrims worth list price for the amount of hours you'll play it

clocked 124hrs on Pc version and on the Xbox 360 at least 130hrs

Money well spent methinks

My total skyrim time since I bought it on Steam a couple of years ago? 2000 hours. Is that because the game has 2000 hours worth of content, or I've someone borked up my save a million times by modding?

Has anyone got an idea what I just heard? I was at Riften, near the market which circles the well (which I think is above the Ragged Flagon). Just before one of the random Thief encounters (where the guards tackle and kill a random Thief) I head this loud creepy voice from around that area. It was almost as loud as the Dragonborn summon you hear upon returning to Whiterun after slaying the first dragon, so I don't think it was part of Ambient sounds mod. No quest or anything was triggered, so could it be part of Dawnguard, or perhaps it was just a really creepy ambient sound after all? It was a boomy male voice, but I couldn't make out what was said. Going to reload my save to try to replicate it.

This might be your problem :). Now you are levelling up faster with training so enemies are tougher, but your combat skills are lower.

yeah that's it. It's like being an novice mage with heavy armour - your amour skills level up quickly because of all the damage you take and therefore level up your character generally. Because of this the enemies also level up, but your novice destruction spells aren't able to do enough damage, so the game just gets tougher and tougher. I'm finding the game quite tough at the moment as a sneak theif archer. My sneak and archery skills are about level 60 (I'm level 22) and my light armour is only 22. I need to start creating more high level bows to get more damage output.

I discovered that if you shoot arrows at a wall etc, enemies will go to investigate the sound. Works great if there is a guy in a hallway that you can't sneak past!

Guys I just heard it again. I was about to go into Breezehome, and I hear this creep droney, almost zombie like voice and no kidding, it sounded like he was saying "Ganjaaaa" lol.

This is really creepy. Could it be one of the Sounds of Skyrim easter eggs?

EDIT: been digging around the Internetz and found this thread: http://skyrimforums.org/sf/threads/strange-roaring-yelling-in-whiterun.14465 It's a Sound of Skyrim: Civilisation easter egg. Skip to 0:26, "VENGEANCE!" is what I heard, creepy as hell!!

Sneak Tools is much improved since the last time I used it. Just cleared a dungeon wearing my face-concealing mask, using water arrows to put out torches, noise-makers, and rope arrows to climb up high:cool:

Just 'completed' Hearthfire DLC. My house is badass, complete with more manaquins than you can shake a stick at, arcane enchanter, two alchemy labs and loads of storage. Only thing is it will be exactly the same as everyone elses. It's a shame it isn't a true house builder; even if it was a dumbed down Sims type thing it would be better. Instead, the only customisation I've found whether you build everything or not. The only real choice is do you build a library or alchemy lab etc, and what wing does it go on? The end result is always very similar though. Still it looks good, and I have a good view from the tower! :D

Yeah some kind of uniqueness would be great perhaps if you could choose where it was built and that would influence the style of it i.e somewhere near Markarth would give it a dwarven look.

I wouldn't mind if the interiors weren't so boring, I have mod houses that are much nicer inside. And Heljarchen Hall is possibly the most boring location for a house ever, nothing but rocks and snow and one or two trees for company. Even the kids complain its freezing.

Played a combined total of about 400 hours over the years, and never done a single Civil War Quest, or Dark Brotherhood quest! Gonna start the civil war tomorrow probably... Oh and Dragonborn, never even started that!

I still havn't started Dragonborn either. I'm in two minds about the DB, I don't want to join but feel I'm missing out on content (Shadowmere, for one). Maybe if I roll an "evil" character in future I can square it with my conscience.

One thing I would definitely recommend is the mod 'Timing is everything'. I find that it really helps with immersion. You set a level/minimum requirement for certain content. For example, I have Dragonborn to begin after completion of the main quest, and Vampire attacks to begin at level 40,with Dawn guard recruitment starting at level 42. Makes everything seem a lot more organic imo, and is the main reason I have still not played a lot of the content!

I also have one that spaces out the companions quest line, changing requirements, and making you do more random jobs before advancement.
