The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Great... So that's Dragonborn broken. Got a vanilla glitch that means you can't beat the final boss:rolleyes:

He won't die? Can you explain the problem without spoilers? I've not done it yet lol. If it's just a case of killing him, try loading the console, clicking on him and then typing "kill". If that doesn't work, try "kill all". That should kill all NPCs in that dungeon/area.

Just encountered a Legendary Dragon, and even with my Godlike bow, it was still a tough fight. One Thuum from it and I was toast.

I have always thought that sword&Shield was by far the easiest way to play the game tbh.

But why would you get in close if you can take them down at distance?

Nah, level 100 Sneak, archery and 110+ smithing with a stupidly powerful bow is easy. Fun though :D

Hell yeah! My other character is epic: Fire/Soul Trap Bows & Enchanted daggers for every situation :D

get the spell breaker, by far the best shield! :)

Looks like the answer - any idea if it levels with you or is it capped?

Spent about two hours trying to find a way around Miraak....what a terrible glitch, which is apparently quite common. I finally had to use console commands to advance the quest, and then again to add the items you would have looted from him(which are all crap anyway tbh!). Missed out on a little of the story though...finding the item IDs was the biggest pain tbh, as they are different for dlc items.

Spellbreaker is great, but as you don't like shields for some reason you should go to the Lord Stone. Gives you, iirc, 25% magic resistance, and a bit of extra damage resistance.

I had fire enchantment on mine and Faendal's had Soul but I got sick of having to keep him stocked with gems. I created two new Dragonbone bows and I took the soul enchantment one. Once I hit level 100 enchantment so I can get dual enchant, I'll be going frost and soul trap :D

Theres quite a few quests that can/do break if your running above 60fps :S

I keepe trying to get back into the game (I think I completed about 40-50% of the main quest) but its just too clunky and I get bored of dealing with the game mechanics before I'm having any fun.

Tbh, on pc at least you can get around the bugs... Imagine playing it on a console and being stuck with it! I have to say as well, that this is pretty much the only serious bug I had encountered in over 400 hours of gameplay,(actually I had the karthspire bug in one playthrough as well iirc, which also needed console commands), and I played over 100 hours in my first run through, totally vanilla with absolutely no bugs at all.

Also, I really like the black books from Dragonborn, really good addition.

with a game like this you have to find your own 'rhythm' to it, myself i enjoy conjuraion + sword. once you realise its a kind of sandbox rpg you can really lose yourself in the game and the lore.

So....run into some problems!

Finished the Dawnguard quest line siding with the vampires, killed Harkon etc and have cured myself of vampirism. All good.

Dawnguard people still attack me (no real problem here either) but the frequency of these attacks is making the game something of a chore. Currently level 30 and when the 3 of them appear I get torn apart in no time at all despite my best efforts!

Getting kinda annoying now and actually beginning to limit my progress in the game :/

I have a quick question that hopefully someone can answer. I have the base game on steam, if I was to buy the legendary version (as it's cheaper than buying the dlc's individually), would it just update my base game with the dlc's or would I have to download the whole thing again and redo mod's etc?

Cheers

Morning all, I'm playing through this again now, FINALLY I'm happy with the mods I've got (again).

So, I'm playing an assassin type character again, it's the most fun I find. But I also find I'm REALLY weak outside of stealth. What can I do to beef me up a little? I'm trying to use daggers as best I can but they are so weak.

I LOVED playing an Orc warrior wearing heavy armor and a 2H hammer. But it become boring very quickly. At least the assassin is sneaky and you have to think about things... Kind of.

But yea, when caught out in the open, I'm useless. Any tips?

Light armour is a must. Dont go for dagger assasinations as your primary modus operandi, you will never survive against deathlords. Maximise sneak early on, and use archery as primary form of killing people because sneak levels when you creep around with a bow.

Yes. But it takes an eternity to level up stealth enough to do one hit dagger kills. You will enounter draguar deathlords way before your sneek levels up dude

Are you using the right perks / dagger / equipment for dagger kills?

Surely a well upgraded elven or glass dagger, with a decent damage enchantment on, plus the 6x damage bonus should hurt?

Also add in shrouded gloves or gauntlets from Dark Brotherhood, and you're looking at a x12 base damage multiplier, chuck some poison in there and you should be fine :p

Darn it, I want to play this again as a pure rogue/stealth character. I've done mixed builds before, but this time I'm really going to sneak around and steal all the things!
