The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Pete Hines said midnight on release day regardless of country .... Thats what bethesda want, but Steam said 4 am in one particular time zone which I cant remember.

You cant use ways around the unlocking on a steamworks game, except for proxying an earlier release date, which wouldnt work because no where has an earlier release date.

I would bet money that reloaded or razor find a way around it always do. I have ordered from ShopTo so could get lucky that sent early. If not no loss.

I'm a bit annoyed that Steam isn't offering a 10% pre-order discount. [or the publishers deciding to offer one etc]

I think I'm going to do something I've not done for 2.5 years. Buy a game from somewhere other than Steam. Was a bit :o:o:o when I checked the total ££££ spent on the account history. Its only about £5 difference, but I dont fancy a Ginormous >15GB download next week. I'll probably regret it having to faf around reconnecting an optical drive to my main PC and swaping in and out 3+ DVDs.

A bit of exercise Friday morning beats waiting in for a delivery all day. 2 weeks ago Yodel (DHL) delivered a £250 order into my bin due emptying the next day. Bit fed up with couriers at the moment.

Now to decided whether to get it from a game store or from every-little-helps.

You get a fancy burlap paper map with the boxed version preorder, and its cheaper.

Why would anyone buy this through steam? The retail key needs to be activated on Steam anyway.

I've not read the thread tbh, spank me!

Thats not actually great news. Where's all my PC high res textures, eh?

They are compressed!

The console install size is 4.5 Gb, PC install size 6 Gb.

The game isnt lower quality, it is just using higher and more efficient compression methods.

There's conflicting reports over release time. Hines said midnight everywhere but I've also I read it will be midnight US west coast for everywhere at that moment, so that would make it 8 or 9am? UK time.....guess we'll just have to wait and see :p
