The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Really liking the cinematic motion blur

Najssh.jpg

Love the way the foreground focuses in and out when you pan the camera. Dunno if you can see it much in this shot. I suck at taking screens

I can see the distant trees in quite good detail and focus when I try to look at them, but when I pan my camera to the wall, or myself it goes like this.

Hi all, I'm sorry if this has been asked, but I wondered if someone in the know could help.

I've just started getting into Skyrim again but playing it last night I couldn't help but feel the graphics felt very flat and a bit dull. This thread is a bit overwhelming as there seems to be so many mods and tweaks you can do, so I wondered what the 'go to' mods/tweaks were to improve graphics/performance and also gameplay. I'd like to be able to continue with the same save game.

If it helps, I'm running a 2500K, 8Gb RAM, 6950 2Gb at 1920x1080.

Many thanks.

So I thought I would post this in here for anyone else looking to replicate a similar look:

The basic ENB, FXAA injector and Lighting mods are: Unreal Cinema ENB, Realistic Lighting and Immersive Environment (I'm running other various texture mods but just focusing on these right now)

I compiled the relevant files into a rar for easy download.
https://rapidshare.com/files/2904708237/Custom_enb___injector.rar

Place those files into your skyrim directory (delete any previous ENB/FXAA settings) and you're good to go (You will need to adjust the brightness, mine is 3 clicks down from the highest).

Revamped exterior fog is also needed (placed at the bottom of your load order):
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9930

Please ensure Realistic Lighting Patcher is 1 place above Realistic Lighting in your load order.

I also adjusted the ENB file to alter the pitch black nights to a more realistic setting.

To do this Download: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=17400

Place it in your skyrim root folder where the enb files are located.

Run it and under the following parameters (On the environment tab) alter these values:

Ambient Lighting:

Intensity At Night - 10
Shadow Strength At Night - 10

Bloom:

Amount At night - 10

If you also experience rays coming off the moon at night, go to the Sky tab and under the sun parameter untick sun rays.

To disable letterboxing, in the enb customiser tool go to 'Other' tab and untick letterbox height.

The nights are not pitch black anymore but I'd say a torch is still required (My preference). For reference I'm also using torch & street light mods as below but it's up to you if you require them:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4764#content (V4a default brightness, 2x radius)

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=17605

I hope somebody finds this useful.

Brilliant! I might just use all of this, I probably should have looked before my last post!?

Any ideas for best all in one mod for gameplay/UI tweaks?

@ SS-89 - I got my EXTERIOR preset looking just the way I want it, and Skyrim is looking awesome :)

But....when I walk into an interior location like a house, inn etc. I cant see anything :( Its like night in there. Even when I use a torch I cant see anything! Can you advise me please! Which slider should I tweak to fix this? Thankss!! :D

Could you post your ambient lighting and bloom settings in full. Have you got any interior lighting mods clashing with the enb? My interiors are normal so I'm not entirely sure what could be causing it.

I would recommend Using Nexus mod manager for any gameplay/UI mods. The ones I'd recommend are as follows (can be found on skyrim Nexus) as there isn't really an all in one mod.

Graphics:
Lush Grass
Glorious Grass
Skyrim HD - 2K Textures
Improved NPC Clothing
Better Dynamic Snow
Enhanced Night Skyrim
Remove Ambient Interior Fog
Revamped Exterior Fog
Better Females
Enhanced Blood Textures
Realistic Smoke and Embers
W.A.T.E.R - Water and Terrain Enhancement Redux

UI:
A Quality World Map
Sky UI
Immersive Hud
Categorised Favourites Menu

Gameplay:
Realistic Ragdolls and Force
Warzones
Deadly Dragons
Midas Magic
Skyrim Monster Mod

That's not everything I have installed but it is a good portion. Hope that helps.

Obviously it's system dependent but I average around 40-50 fps on my system at 1920x1080 (There are some additional graphical mods that I haven't included on that list).

Hi does anyone know if theres a mod on the Steam workshop for these 3 annoyances:

to keep dead bodies around longer? I hate it when they diasappear.

Also Caves, is there one to stop re-spawn of enemies, once cleared.

And one more:
Dragons, even though I've completed main quest the pesky thinigs keep apprearaing. Is there a mod to stop them appearing as often (like EVERY time i visit Riverwood!)

Strange request I know:D

I would definitely recommend following STEP. It might take a while to download all of the mods, but you do not have to use them all. Just pick what you want. It will be worth it

It is a very easy to follow guide to the best graphics mods to use, and in what order to install them, with links to the download pages so you can just click on the links and then download through NMM. I have followed it(and added a few as well) and the game looks amazing. Plus you certainly have the rig to use any of the texture mods, and it tells you the performance hit for each mod.

PS you can also put an ENB on as well if you want.

Thanks dude, I'll check it out.

It shouldn't be washed out at all as can be seen in my screenshots. Did you put realistic lighting patcher above realistic lighting in your load order as per my instructions?

Yup.

In any case, your post was helpful and got me playing with ENB, so thanks again! (I'm just using ENB, the ENB customizer and the "Dark Dungeons" addon that you bundled with your zip).

It's finally given me the excuse I needed to actually play it finally! (I've been busy with this thing called "Real Life" and a handful of other games...)

:D

Very odd, well I'm glad it had some use :p

Thanks for the reply but....it seems to have sorted itself out  I did a reboot and fired up Skyrim..went into a random house and it was fine. So I went into an inn as well just to make sure...and its all good! Thanks again for that .rar :D

That's great! Was going to say there would be no reason for the interiors to be as dark as you stated.

Oh and I forgot to say - remember I said I was getting 5min load-times? Well that was in *Eyefinity*. Out of curiosity I went to a single screen...and the loadtime is 10secs! Same when I play on the HDTV in the living room.

But on 3 screens its 5min!!

YEY I got Skyrim just the way I wanted it too :D This ENB invention is amazing. Cheers again to SS-89 for the link to that preset that I just had to tweak to get this.

Post your settings on the ENB enjector, please :p that looks amazing!

Also, SS-89 my Skyrim keeps messing up, when I go to load a save file it closes to the desktop without any error or anything, its been doing it for a while, I think its something to do with patch 1.6 and the ENB?

Also, this is a must for anyone: The textures of vanilla weapons are 512x512 I think, this improves them to 2048x2048!
