Tried updating drivers on the gpu? or reinstall them

is it only with skyrim? installed any new mods recently? try disabling mods one at a time starting with the most recent

Yes only with Skyrim. Fallout New Vegas, Far Cry 3 no problems.

Yes I have installed mods but weirdly the game ran fine for a long time after installing the mods. I think (not sure) Steam updated itself one day and since then this has been happening. The Steam client says GPU drivers are up to date.

Will try running the game on minimum graphics settings.

You should never use Steam to update the drivers.

Try complete removal of your GPU drivers. Use the official tool if you're on Windows 7 or uninstall from Programs and Features, then run Driver Fusion in safe mode, delete all Nvidia and AMD/ATI entries.

After that, install the latest WHQL driver.

And to make sure it's not the game playing up, delete Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini, and run BOSS.

Thanks for that mate - will do all those things and will also quit using Steam to update the drivers. Will get that Driver Fusion thing too. I have a AMD HD7870. The deletion of .ini is interesting..a similar thing is done in FSX to start fresh didnt know you could do it in this game though!

Skyrim is Steamworks, so it activates on Steam no matter where you get it from.

I used to mod skyrim with nexus with no problems but I just prefer steam works as it is simpler in my opinion.

Still not really got into Skyrim but can see that its a good game.

What really impressed me was downloading a graphic collection and it installing, configuring with a couple of mouse clicks.

Very smart.

I see Skyrim Legendary edition is up on steam and was wondering... are they planning to release anymore DLC for Skyrim? I tend to only buy games once they've been out for a while and come with all their DLC (all my Playstation games are like this, such as GTA IV complete edition). I wouldn't mind picking up Skyrim at the price it's at now if that's all the DLC they're releasing. Otherwise I can just wait.

Steam Workshop is horrible for modding Skyrim in almost every way.

Try it with over 130 mods, several of which conflict and have various dependencies. LThen let us know how your saves are doing

well after a week of modding and testing I finally think (hope) I have got my Skyrim really stable and looking mouth wateringly sexy.

One problem I did notice though is that in dungeons id get a black screen (no crash) and then had to reset my comp.

I "hope" that this was quick save related as some sources say, I have therefore removed quick save from the skyrim.ini and im doing manual full saves every 15 minutes or so. A pain I know but this game is so damn good and the graphics with it modded to this level is just amazing. I spend more time starting at the textures and stuff rather than concentrating on gameplay.

Decided to re-install Skyrim and give it a proper go this time after previously only trying it for 2-3 hours when it came out. I've made the most of some of the better mods I think, but can anyone recommend any mods I've missed/shouldn't use etc?

I have actually now uninstalled SkyRe, whilst it's amazing, it just didn't feel like the Skyrim I fell inlove with. So, it's gone and new character time!

Anyone know of a mod to stop that stupid annoying dual wield bug in favorites for improved items.

Such as, I would have a imperial sword, 3 of them. In favorites i have (3) next to the name. But if I increase these to 'fine', I have 2 entries in a list, both identical but it means I have to select them manually if I change hands.
