7 fps and no ENB? Madness :).

I'm guessing it's just for screenarchery not playing? :)

I recently changed fGrassStartFadeDistance to 25000.0000. Grass goes on much further now, much better. Also installed The Skyrim Distance Overhaul LOD Improvement: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19446/?. Makes more stuff appear at distance. Getting the distance looking nicer. FPS not down much.

To be honest without an ENB I'm not sure how you mananged to get it down to 7FPS :). Unless maybe your GTX580 is a 1.5GB VRAM card.

Its is 1.5gb :)

It's all the trees, ugrids@7 and that mod "dat grass"

There ws an ENB on tho, can't mind what it was called, one by boris i think.

The effect you are referring to is called Depth of Field. It's very simple to turn off.

- In your skyrim folder, locate the file enbseries.ini

- Scroll down and local the line 'EnableDepthofField=true'

- Change the true to false.

-Save the file.

I found the DOF on some ENB's to be a waste of time, but the one that comes with Realvision is superb. I think it's good to have decent DOF because it distracts from the pop up of scenery when you have UGrids set to it's default value.
 
Can't understand why you'd run ugrids at 7 on a 1.5gb 2 generation old card. Making the game look pretty is cool and everything but not when you're going sub 30 fps.
 
Skyrim is a weird one tbh, the only graphics mods I have are 2K LITE and Realistic Lighting and my fps drops from 60 to the thirties in some places, like Raven Rock, Makarth, Riften etc. Running a 670 with a 3570k, should be more than enough but perhaps it's the mechanical drive as I have no SSD yet.

Oh, and I'm not even gaming at 1200p yet, still on 1440x900 so I imagine my performance would suffer even more at a higher resolution.

FPS in the thirties without an ENB does seem low. Did the Skyrim Launcher recommend Ultra settings? And did you turn the AA down from x8 if it did. I play with one 670 at 2560x1440 with a lot of mods and x2 AA, 60 FPS pretty much everywhere I think.

Something wrong there. Can you supply more info
 
I don't use the MSAA, only FXAA, everything else maxed with view distances being standard maximum, no real .ini tweaking done except FOV. My FOV is at 100 so perhaps that may effect things.

Only thing I can think of is that I tried out the Enboost mod, the one that claims to boost framerate and lower RAM consumption and the fps drops went, but that required me to use an ENB, and all the ENBs seem to cause me to CTD upon loading for some reason.
 
2K LITE mate, it's not really an issue for me though as sure you can notice when it drops but it's still playable. I was wondering if I was running out of VRAM though, my 670 has 2x 2048MB so it's limited to 2048MB, and the LITE textures are 2048px. along with the aMidianBorn armor textures which I think are even higher. My shadows are only on high as well, as I use the blur .ini tweak to make them presentable without the massive FPS hit ultra seems to have.
 
Just to note for you guys on the Ugrids thang - I have completed it before I just like to test the absolute limits of my (2nd hand but hugely better than my old 550ti) card and what parts of skyrim(mods) make it tank. I managed to completely break it last night. :) But yes, I f I do play it again it will be with Ugridstoload=5 I think :)

Thanks, that worked a treat, however now the now on he mountains 'shimmers' - any ideas?

It's Real Vision ENB that i'm using by the way.

The mountains shimmering and flickering is annoying. It's why I quite like Dynavision with a static DOF. If you Google "Skyrim z-fighting" you can find some ways to maybe reduce the flickering. Eg here: http://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=251

Clouds over the mountain tops seems the best way to remove block it :).

Just off the top of your head would Dynavision work with COT and RV ENB?
