The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

So i've installed a selection of mods from the OP but for some reason SKSE isn't working which is throwing off a lot of mods.

I have downloaded and installed/activated the latest version of SKSE (1.6.16) but whenever I get in game I get a pop up telling me that SKSE isn't running.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

No idea what I've done to make it look like this, something's broken somewhere. Does anyone else think it looks a little cel shaded in it's broken state?

It looks like you've installed an enb/sweetfx wrong.
Have you tried to install an ENB with mod manager instead of cut/pasting it into the skyrim folder?

or have you tried to install sweetfx over an enb without altering the enblocal.ini to have this..

EnableProxyLibrary=true
InitProxyFunctions=true
ProxyLibrary=d3d9injFX.dll

for those who use ENB. A new update is out that has cloud shadowing.. :)

Now we just need a way to adjust the cloud movement speed in skyrim for extra drama

add EnableCloudsShadow=true to your enbseries.ini where you'd turn on/off AO and DOF etc

Try installing the WATER mod in op and overwrite?
Have you followed the ini tweak instructions?

e.t.c :D

W.A.T.E.R is the first thing I install each time I mod Skyrim mate. :p ;)

I know how to install ENB mods mate, not sure about the SweetFX thing though, just installed the enbdev latest with RealVision ENB, CoT, 2k and that's pretty much it. SHIFT+F12 removes the outline of the waters edge so it's definitely ENB related. No clue though.

Meh, worst case scenario they stay there, but I'm quite getting used to them so oh well. :o

you don't launch the game the usual way, you launch it via the new skse launcher icon on your desktop

I just did that and it worked. Although I think the problem was that SKSE didn't install properly through the installer you can download. Just after I posted I tried a manual install and a lot of the files I copied over weren't in my Skyrim directory. However thank you for letting me know I need to use the SKSE launcher!

ummm so i'm a bit daunted by the size of this thread and the amount of options.

Bought Skyrim recently via Steam sale. Never played it, RPG games are not my norm so what would simple mods would you recommend for someone new to the game?

I'd always recommend 5) SkyUI + Better Sorting + Categorized Favorites Menu - interface replacement for any new player!

One you get to grips of the game, you can then move onto the graphical updates :) ( Just not the DLC high res )

Agreed, but don't forget the unofficial patches which are probably baseline mods at this point.

Honestly the best advice I ever got in this thread when I was reinstalling skyrim after about a year was to follow Gopher's videos to get pretty much all the "100% get this" mods installed in perfect working order. He also covers the basic knowledge behind modding quite well and even people who've done it before can learn stuff. His videos are far longer than they need to be though, so I ended up skipping forward and back quite a bit to the relevant bits.

Bloomin heck - More mods for me to install.

I spend more time messing with mods that playing this game :)

I'm worse, I spend more time messing with other peoples mods trying to fix bugs in otherwise great mods than actual playing these days. I now know more about the Creation Kit than I ever wanted to. :rolleyes:

I always hated the way the Hearthfire adopted kids just stand around doing nothing much during the day, they now have a much more interesting play package. :)
