The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Depends if the version of the mod you want has a version for just the core game...

I have always had the DLC so always just install the patches that go with each mod..

I've read the 2.2.7 guide and can't see a vanilla option. Most mods off vanilla versions, but the STEP patch at the top requires all DLC. Other mods later depend on this, so I'm not sure what to do other than fork out £26. The full edition is only £29, £23 is bought on DVD from GMG.

Whenever I start modding Skyrim, something inevitably goes slightly wrong. Is there a pre-set or pre-made pack of the most popular mods that will almost 100% guarantee to work? I'd rather have a stable set of the most popular mods than every single mod I want with a chance it'll crash.

Is it really playable yet though? From what I can gather, there aren't any missions or dungeons yet are there? I don't want to install it until its finished but will it ever really be finished?

Not fully, I still prefer the MGSO version of Morrowind, but Skywind has a ton of potential!

Started skyrim today on PC i put god noes how many hours into the xbox version and was wondering what mods you recommend?

im not going to be gewtting any of the DLC's as when i brought them for the xbox version i didnt really enjoy the additional quests and was let down by hearthfire had my hopes up for building my own house and then i had to do it a certain way for each plot.

Can't find this mentioned in this thread? Anyway one of my essential mods

Guard Dialogue Overhaul - tired of City guards treating you like something they've scraped off the sole of their boot even after you're thane of every hold, leader of every guild and savior of the world?! Then you need this. Uses original voices all original game content but disabled in vanilla for some reason:

Is anyone using STEP and Climates of Tamriel and Whiterun Trees? CoT sounds like it could clash with Wet and Cold but they don't mention each other in the descriptions.

Sup everyone, I'm out of touch with Skyrim and I'm going to give it one last blast to try and get through it without being distracted by other games.

I had a good mod setup last time I played it but have since formatted, I normally play stealth type, dagger and magic.

I don't want to alter the basic gameplay as I like the simplistic approach to the skills.

What I'm looking for is eye candy. I don't like what enb's do to the game, I like the default colour palette. I don't like the default brightness at night though, so anything that can darken the nights and caves would be EPIC.

I want as much detail as possible without ruining the default look of the game.

Extra armour and weapons always welcome.

So yea! Compile a list please :D

I don't use STEP I'm afraid, that's the problem with Climates of Tamriel it tends to clash with many different mods. I used to use it myself until I went with RCRN.

It also clashed with Realistic Lighting, such a pain in the ***

Haha, you sod.

Is the main topic up to date though? Not able to do proper research as I'm at work and I'm running out of tea...

Yep, updated as of Jan 2014

I'll update as much as I can, usually people give me a shout anyway of a mod they've enjoyed. As you can see though some of the mods had to be deleted as they caused issues down the line or clash too much with any better mods that've been released :)

By the way I'd highly recommend Skyrim HD and not installing the beth high res texture dlc. Just follow the guide mod by mod, if the mod doesn't suit you, skip to the next one

Yeah just been reading up on it. It's an awesome, never thought I'd play Skyrim without it, but it classes with a lot of other things I want (such as Immersive Thunder and Wet and Cold) also, according to this: http://wiki.step-project.com/Climates_of_Tamriel

For this I would follow STEP, ignoring the mods that change gameplay in a way you don't like. STEP Core is primarily aimed at exactly what you want - sticking to the vanilla experience whilst fixing bugs and making it pretty :D It just takes hours to do. I've been going about 2.5 hours so far and have only downloaded 3/4 of the mods and begun to install the first 1/3 or so. It will look amazing once done, especially once you add the latest ENB :D
